Chapter four

      Janus paced around. "Ugh! That's it! I'm showing myself to Thomas. Wait. I could impersonate someone." Janus thought. Remus watched his boyfriend's evil scheme. "Yeah. But who?" Janus looked over to Remus. "Someone who will easily be handled so they can sit out." Janus said. "Patton maybe? He'd probably just go with whatever's happening to him in the moment." Remus suggested. Janus was hesitant. But then thought it was the best idea.

      Janus looked around. He could see Virgil's shock. But also anger. That made Janus happy. "Well-ah-god that hurts-I mean that didn't hurt at all. Ah!" Janus moved to the side and Patton popped up. Janus rolled his eyes. But then noticed what Patton was wearing. He wasn't wearing the cardigan. It was a cat hoodie. Janus frowned a little. He must have forgotten I gave it to him. Or hates me like the rest. He thought.

Patton's pov

      Patton noticed Deceit was still wearing the hat. Aww. I wonder if he remembers I gave it to him. Patton wondered. He saw that he looked at Deceit different from the others. They all looked at him with disgust. Patton looked at him like an old friend. He saw that Virgil looked extra mad. I mean he left the dark sides so I guess it makes sense. Patton thought.

      After the episode, all the others didn't want to talk to Deceit. But Patton gave him a hug. Deceit felt uncomfortable. "Yay! You showed yourself to Thomas! That's a milestone if I've ever seen one. You're coming over to the mind palace with Remus for dinner. Got it?" Patton said. Virgil looked at Patton like he was crazy. "Umm, I'm not sure." Deceit said. But then he noticed how the other sides reacted to Patton's invitation. Badly. "Of course we'll be there." He smirked before sinking out.

Janus' pov

      "Remus! We're going to the mind palace in about an hour or so! Be ready to annoy the fuck out of the others!" Janus called. Remus gave a nod. Janus sighed. "Can you answer me?" He asked. Remus looked at him. "Ugh. Yes. I'll be ready!" He said sarcastically. Janus nodded and walked to his room. "Like raising a child." He mumbled.

      Janus and Remus entered the mind palace. "Ah! It was like it was just yesterday I lived here." He said. Patton gave a big smile. Janus tried to stay serious but he smirked a little. He saw Logan looking at them with disgust. Roman turned and saw them. "Hey Pat! What are they doing here? What is Remus doing here?" Roman asked. Patton gave him a stern look. "They're here for dinner and you will treat them with respect! He's your brother after all!" Patron said. Roman grumbled. "Oh get over it, bitch." Remus chuckled. Roman was about to speak but Janus made a swift hand movement and Roman slapped his hand over his mouth.

      "Virgil! Time for dinner!" Patton called. Virgil walked to the dining table, looking at his phone. He looked up and saw Janus. He stopped and looked over to Patton. "Why the hell is he here?" Virgil asked. Patton sighed and explained. Virgil groaned and sat down.

      Janus finished quickly. He had long fangs so he couldn't chew. So he ate everything whole. It scared the living daylights out of Patton. Virgil laughed. Logan looked intrigued. And Roman made a grossed out face. Remus smiled and kissed Janus. The light sides stopped. Janus and Remus looked confused until they realized they hadn't told the others that they were dating. Virgil looked at him in shock. Janus smiled and stuck his tongue out to taunt him. "I-I didn't know you two were dating?" Patton said. Janus shrugged. "Eh. We started dating like a few weeks after Virgil left. We were fucking a lot before then though." Janus mentioned. (I'm not sorry.)

      Virgil looked at him. "Oh so when I left you took your chance? I knew it!" Virgil said. The other light sides looked at him in confusion. Virgil calmed down. "It's nothing." He said. Janus laughed. But it sounded like a hiss. It was weird. Logan looked over to Remus.

      A little later, Roman and Virgil kissed. Remus' jaw gaped a little and Janus choked on air. Logan noticed that they looked uncomfortable. "Of course you fall in love with a light side! It should have been obvious!" Janus said. The others all looked over to him. "What is going on with you two?!" Roman said. "Yeah, you guys kiss another side and you two act like it's crazy." Logan added. Janus laughed. "Ha! You wanna know why!?" Janus stood up. "Dee, don't!" Virgil threatened. Remus also tried to calm him down. "Oh no you two! They should finally know!" Janus was almost crying. "Dee, what's going on?" Patton asked. "You know what?! Virgil and I were dating! For over ten fucking years! And he left the day he broke up with me! You happy now!?" Janus was now crying.

Patton's pov

      Patton stared at the crying side for a while. Nobody was helping him. Not even Remus. Patton got up and went to hug Deceit. Deceit fell into him. "It was years ago Dee!" Virgil argued. "Oh I'm sorry! I'll just let this emotional break inside me heal then! Thanks a whole fucking lot!" Deceit retorted. Virgil groaned. "V, calm down. You're gonna have another panic attack!" Roman said. "I AM calm!" Virgil said. Remus and Logan exchanged glances. Patton wiped the tears from Deceit's face. The scales felt weird. "Remus, control your friend with benefits." Roman said. Remus stood up and turned on his brother. "He's my boyfriend and you need to control yours!" Remus argued.

Janus' pov

      Janus had enough. He grabbed Remus by the arm. "Thank you for having us, Patton. But we need to go. And keep your rabid animal in control." Janus went cold and sunk down with Remus.

       They appeared in the mindscape and Janus quickly hurried to his room. "Jan, wait!" Remus called. "Don't follow me or check up on me. I want to be alone." Janus said as he swiftly walked to his room. Janus sat, curled up in a corner. He didn't want to be alone. But he couldn't stand to see another face.
