42. Jason-Wait for me

"I told you to wait for me, Jay," Dick said as he finally caught up with Jason. He saw Jason attacking someone, "Hey! No killing."
"I didn't kill them. They're just knocked unconscious," Jason replied as gestured to people lying on the ground. "At least I think so."
"What did I tell you about going off by yourself? You never listen to me," Dick sounded annoyed a little but not angry. "It can be dangerous and-"
Jason put his finger on Dick's lips, "Calm down. I'm fine. Actually I'm great, I got to take down bad guys." Jason added, "Without killing them. And I didn't destroy property this time."
Dick smiled at him, "I'm proud of you. But you still shouldn't go out on your own."
"You being proud is good enough for me," Jason smiled. He took off his helmet and rested his arms on Dick's shoulder and smiled.
Jason leaned in to kiss him but Dick pulled away.
"What?" Jason asked concerned.
"I need to tell you something," Dick shifted nervously.
"Please don't be breaking up with me," Jason said, feeling scared. "I just found my way back to you. I don't want to lose you. I know I've done some stupid shit and you deserve someone so much better
than me but I don't ever want to feel the pain I felt when I was without you. I spent so much time getting over you which I should've used to fight for you, I don't want to give up on us. I love you."
Dick smiled when he heard those words, he was practically in tears. "Jason,"'he said as he laughed. He wiped his eyes, "I would never break up with you. I love you and would do anything to make sure you're happy. I..." Dick paused. He got down to one knee and pulled out something from his pocket. Jason stared at the small object, glimmering in the moonlight, like it was the true definition of happiness. "Jason Todd. I want you to marry me."
