Scene 17: Interior - Exterior / Liam’s Building Door – Liam’s Apartment / Afternoon

Louis is standing outside Liam’s house. After ringing the bell for a few minutes, he decides to call Niall.

NIALL: (dismissive) “I’m studying.”

LOUIS: “I didn’t ask what you were doing.”

NIALL: “And I didn’t ask you to call me, yet you are calling me so.”

LOUIS: “Your cousin is not home. Did you tell him I’d come?”

NIALL: “I gave him your number and you were supposed to talk to each other. I got nothing to do with that.”

LOUIS: “Yes, he told me to come at 6 and it’s 6.15 already and no signs of him.”

NIALL: “Ugh. Californian people.”

LOUIS: “I’ll just leave. This was a bad idea from the start.”

NIALL: “No! Don’t you dare. Did you call him?”

LOUIS: “Yes, I did! He is not picking up and I’m standing right outside his door. Maybe he doesn’t want to help me out. It’s alright. It doesn’t matter.”

NIALL: “Yes, it does! Wait, I’ll call him.”

LOUIS: “Okay.”

NIALL: “You need to dismiss this call so I can call him.”

LOUIS: “Oh, right but wait.”

NIALL: (annoyed) “What is it?”

LOUIS: “Are we sure this is the right thing to do? Maybe you were accurate before. They probably know it’s me and they have something planned to embarrass me.”

NIALL: “No! I don’t think they do.”

LOUIS: “But you said…”

NIALL: “I say lots of stuff I don’t mean.”

LOUIS: “Okay, I know I’m going to the party, that’s decided… but maybe this Liam thing is not such a good idea.”

NIALL: “Why?”

LOUIS: “You know exactly why.”

NIALL: “Oh, Louis. I’m sure he doesn’t even remember.”

LOUIS: “If a whale tries to kiss you, you’d remember.”

NIALL: (laughing) “You were not a whale!”

LOUIS: “Right, whales are cute. I was a hippo.”

NIALL: “I don’t think whales are cute though.”

LOUIS: “Killer whales are.”

NIALL: “Weird. I like hippos better.”

LOUIS: “Probably because you are straight.”

NIALL: “Liam is excited about this, believe me. He loves to pick people’s outfits and stuff. He is been trying to help me out with it for a long while but I never let him so you don’t have to worry about it.”
