A Poem & a Prayer

Part 1

I stand on holy ground; the Enemy seeks my life...

Save me O Lord, for the enemy seeks my life to destroy it
I am threatened to lose this jewel; pure joy and purity in You
But with You Lord, there is mercy and love
Salvation and justice belong to You
You have provided a way of escape
The path of truth

The Enemy has quit his arts of terror
And has put away his cloud of horror
Now as I would think
That altogether the Enemy has ceased
They send out temptation as a friend of peace

Temptation seeks to comfort me
To enfold me in her loathsome arms
A soft blindfold, she'd cover my eyes
As she lulls me with her secret charms

O my God, Thy Word is Truth
I will not deceive myself, in thinking I'm strong
O send Your grace to this frail youth
Come quickly, do not tarry long

Selah

Satan would say, as he said with Christ
"Prove thyself, if you are the son of God."
I blow the horn. I will not trust in my strength
I flee the comforting darkness
To stand on holy sod

Depart from me
Workers of iniquity
No weapon formed against me shall stand
Every tongue which rises against me
I shall condemn

Part 2

Not by might, not by power...

Love, love, love, love
Christian, this is your calling
Ever cry for the help that comes from above
Ever cry and rest in Him

Cleanse my Mind, I pray
I need Thy salvation every day
Take not away the Light
Let me not fade away from Your sight

I love You, Lord
Help me to delight to do Thy will
Like Jacob, I wrestle
For Your peace, within me, to instill

Save me from the prejudice
And oh, the hypocrisy!
Cleanse my deeper self
Make me whole, pure, and clean

Selah

O God, I have shattered myself
My sin has broken me beyond repair
With an open ear, I will find health
At the cross, I'll find Thee there

I am stale and empty
I am like brackish; I have been still for too long
Send Your sweet anointing
For I am like words without a song

Grant me Your understanding
Break this seal, that I may be free
Enabled to trust Thy will
Thy exciting Plan and Strength to see

I have no strength, I have no sight
I am like a dumb one in whom there is no speech
I cannot accomplish
No hope in me, to conquer

I have lost my humility
I am sinking in pride's mire
The murky waters close over me
I am wounded and entangled
By my former desires

Selah

Awake, you who sleep
Arise from the dead
And Christ will give you light
"Your dead shall live
Together with My dead body
They shall arise."
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
And His ears are open to their prayers

I will lift up my eyes to the hills
From whence comes my help?
My help only comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

He will not allow my foot to be moved
He who keeps me will not slumber
He who keeps His people
Will neither slumber nor sleep

The Lord is my keeper
The Lord is my shade at my right hand
The sun shall not harm me by day
The moon will not harm me by night

The Lord shall keep me from all evil
He will watch over my soul
You shall watch over my coming in and going out
From this time forth and evermore

Selah

Not by might
Not by power
But by My Spirit, says the Lord of Sabaoth

Who is a God like You
Pardoning iniquity and passing over
The transgression of the remnant of His heritage?
You do not retain Your anger forever
Because, oh Father, You delight in mercy
You will again have compassion on me
And You will subdue my iniquities
You have cast all my sins
Into the depths of the sea

You will give truth to Jacob
And mercy to Abraham
Which You have sworn to my fathers
From days of old

Part 3~ My Cry Ascends; The Benediction

Hear my prayer, O Lord
Give ear to my supplications
In Your faithfulness answer me
And in Your righteousness

Do not enter into judgment with Your servant
For in Your sight, no one living is righteous

For the enemy has persecuted my soul
He has crushed my life to the ground
He has made me dwell in darkness
Like those who have long been dead

Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me
My heart within me is distressed

I remember the days of old
I meditate on all Your works
I muse on the work of Your hands

I spread out my hands to You
My soul longs for You
Like a thirsty land

Selah

Answer me speedily, O Lord
My spirit fails!
Do not hide Your face from me
Lest I be like those who go down into the pit
Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness
In the morning

For in You do I trust
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk
For I lift up my soul to you

Selah

Deliver me, O Lord
From my enemies
In You I take shelter
Teach me to do Your will
For You are my God; Your Spirit is good
Lead me in the land of uprightness
Revive me, O Lord, for Your name's sake!
For Your righteousness' sake
Bring my soul out of trouble

In Your mercy, cut off my enemies
And destroy all those who afflict my soul
For I am Your servant
I am Yours, save me
For I have sought Your precepts

Higgaion Selah

"Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed
Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame
For you will forget the shame of your youth
And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore

For your Maker is your husband
The Lord of hosts is His name
And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel
He is called the God of the whole earth

For the Lord has called you
Like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit
Like a youthful wife when you were refused."
Says your God

"For a mere moment, I have forsaken you
But with great mercies
I will gather you
With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment
But with everlasting kindness
I will have mercy on you."
Says the Lord
Your Redeemer

"For this is like the waters of Noah to Me
For as I have sworn that the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth
So have I sworn
That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you

For the mountains shall depart
And the hills be removed
But My kindness shall not depart from you
Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed."
Says the Lord
Who has mercy on you

"O you afflicted one
Tossed with tempest and not comforted
Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems
And lay your foundations with sapphires
I will make your pinnacles of rubies
Your gates of crystal
And all your walls of precious stones

All your children shall be taught by the Lord
And great shall be the peace of your children
In righteousness, you shall be established
You shall be far from oppression
For you shall not fear
And from terror
For it shall not come near you

Indeed Satan shall surely assemble
But not because of Me
Whoever assembles against you
Shall fall for your sake

Behold, I have created the blacksmith
Who blows the coals in the fire
Who brings forth an instrument for his work
And I have created the spoiler to destroy
No weapon formed against you shall prosper
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn

This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord
And their righteousness is from Me."
Says the Lord

Why are you cast down, O my soul
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him
The help of my countenance
And my God
