She sat on a bench, eating her sandwich.
A man sat next to her.
Clean shaven, light blue eyes and black hair, brown cloak with grey shirt, black pants and brown shoes.
Axel didn't look homeless, he didn't like people staring at him. He got by somehow.
He sat next to a pretty girl.
She sat on his bench.
He didn't mind that much.
He kept to himself but she stared.
"May I help you ma'am?"
She turned away.
He straightened his hair. Putting it to the side.
What was he doing? He jumbled it up again. He wasn't going to pretend he was some rich man for some girl on his bench.
He leaned back a little, she looked at him again.
He wasn't looking at her, he was scanning the garbage cans mentally.
"You from outta town?" He asked.
"Excuse me, sir?"
He smirked. He's never been called sir by people who knew him.
Yep, out of town.
"Would you like some?" She was going to split her sandwich in half.
"Is it that obvious? No, I can handle my self. I ain't no beggar."
"No, I'm just asking, I'm full."
"No, you ain't from 'round here, save it for later. Thanks for the offer."
There was an earthquake.
Large.
People were running, going crazy.
The man swore he saw a woman try to eat her child.
The poor boy was crying as his mother tore him apart.
The man ran and the girl followed.
He hid behind a building, grabbing his knife.
He spotted the girl.
"What?"
"I'm scared, sir."
"I ain't sir. Call me Axel."
"Melinda."
