Axel grabbed a pickaxe.
"Where, Chandler?"
"Over on that way!" Chandler pointed to the North.
Axel ran to the figure and was ready to sink the axe into its brain.
He held the axe like it was a bat and was ready to hit the ball. His arms swung back until the figure yelled, "hold on, bro!"
It was a girl, she was clear in the light.
Axel threw the axe aside.
"Who are you?"
"Marisa." She had brown hair that bling to her neck, brown eyes that shone in the light and she wore a black shirt that said in white letters "GORILLAZ" and black converse high tops. She wore blue jeans cut into shorts and although it wasn't that cold, a black and grey beanie was plopped on her head.
"I'm Axel."
"I have one question, Axel."
"Hmm?"
"WHY WERE YOU GOING TO CHOP MY HEAD OFF?!"
"We thought you were a snarler."
"A what?!"
"A walker." Chandler interrupted.
"Oh! I love the Walking Dead comics!! Oh, anyways. I was looking for my friends. Maddy and KayLee."
"We haven't seen them." Axel said.
"I'll help you search for them." Chandler grabbed a knife and gave Marisa a rake.
"Are we going to work in the garden?"
Chandler chuckled, "we're going to kill some zombies."
"Chandler, where are you going?" Roberto asked.
"I'm going with Marisa to look for her friends. Don't worry." He smiled then said in a deeper voice, "I'll be back."
Anne smiled, she trusted her brother and knew he'd be back by sunset.
Marisa held the rake in her hand, she had read her comics but a rake?
As they walked along the road, Chandler wondered about the girl. What were her friends like? How was she dealing with the apocalypse? Did she have siblings, ... a boyfriend?
"How old are you, Marisa?"
"Seventeen."
"Yea. Me, too." Chandler lied.
"Are you lying?"
"I'm a terrible liar." Chandler blushed.
"I am too. What are you? twelve?"
Chandler's face turned to an even brighter shade of red, "sixteen."
"Oh, yea, sorry." She tried not to laugh.
"It's alright. uhm.. let's play Q and A, yea?"
Marisa nodded, "you start."
"Siblings?"
"No. Uhm.. favourite movie."
"Tommy Boy."
"FAT GUY IN A LITTLE COAT!" They both sang in unison, laughing.
"Favourite song?" Chandler asked.
"A day in a life by the Beatles. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?"
"Right here."
"Really? Even with the zombies around."
"Yea. Uhmm.." Chandler thought for a moment. There was a question he was dying to ask. But was it too soon? Chandler quickly decided, "boyfriend?"
"No. Do you have a girlfriend?"
They both stopped walking and faced each other. She looked directly into his beautiful green eyes and he stared into her glorious brown eyes.
He shook his head.
They both smiled.
He leaned closer to her, inching his lips towards hers.
"WHOA!! MARISA, WHO'S THIIIS?"
Chandler flinched and quickly backed away.
