"Why hello, 'little' brother." I spun around in his desk chair, causing him to chuckle when he walked back into the loft. "I hear we have Beserker problems now." He nodded and I slowly nodded in understanding.
'How do you know?"
"Peter dropped by, gave me the rundown of how you let Kate into the vault and how someone stole all our bonds." Derek nodded again and chucked my school bag at me.
"Go to school." I sighed and slung the bag over my shoulder as I stood up before following his orders and sticking my tongue out to him as I left.

By the time school ended, I was heading out to the bleachers and sitting with Kira and Malia watching the boys go through Lacrosse Tryouts.
"Do you think girls can be on the team?" I asked, leaning my elbow on my knee and my chin on my hand as I stared at all the panting boys.
"I thought it was a boys team?" Malia's voice piped up beside me and I just shrugged.
"No, it's Beacon Hills High Lacrosse team, but it doesn't say anything about it being a boys Lacrosse team, just a Lacrosse team." The two of them started talking about Scott and Kira's mini kiss thing while I watched the boys line up to take shots into the goal. "I'll be right back." I headed down to coach and stood beside him until he noticed my presence.
"Hale, something wrong?" I shook my head, linking my heads behind my back.
"No. I was just wondering if girls could try out for the team?" Coach looked at me, the line up throws not starting yet since they were all lining up still, and he nodded.
"I don't see why not, we're not an exclusively boy's team. Grab a stick and join the line." I nodded and looked back to Kira.
"Kira!" She looked down to me at the bottom of the bleachers. "Toss me the stick." She threw the black lined stick down to me and I caught it with ease, heading over to the line of boys with a smug smile, the smile grew when they looked over to me and saw a girl, in heels, leather skinnies, and a tight, cropped, striped, sleeveless turtleneck, carrying a Lacrosse stick. I slipped into the line with a smile, behind this blonde freshman in a red l'athlétisme shirt. He glanced back at me and eyed my outfit with a cocky smirk. "What?" I asked innocently.
"Nothing, I just don't think you're going to be able to throw dressed in that, even without gloves."
"If I can run it it, I can throw in it, Freshie." He shrugged and turned back to the boy in front of him, and in front of him I saw Stiles staring at me in surprise. I just sent him a smile and a wave.
Stiles threw the ball, even struggling to pick it up but I blame his nerves for that, and the ball went directly into the net, of the lacrosse stick the goalie was holding. As the boys around me laughed, I lightly touched Stiles' arm when he passed me, giving him a supportive smile. Next up was this other freshman in front of the blonde boy. The ball went straight into the goal. The blonde boy took his turn and then waited to the side, allowing me to scoop up a ball with ease.
"Just remember, I bet it's hard to throw in heels and those pants." I lowered the stick in my hands and stared at the blonde boy, my expression dead serious.
"Make another comment about what I'm wearing and my heel will be through your throat." The boys in the line fell silent in their chatter and just stared at the two of us. "You understand me?" He nodded and I got ready to throw. And when I did throw it, the ball did exactly with I wanted, it went straight into the net with a little curve to go right behind the goalie.
"Hale!" Everyone's heads whipped to coach. "Where the hell did you learn to throw like that?" I blushed very faintly and rubbed the back of my neck before calling back.
"Stiles taught me!" There was confusion written on everyone's faces and they looked at the boy in question. Coach nodded and allowed the tryouts to continue.
Everyone got more and more try's and I was incredibly surprised to see Scott and Stiles, well more so Scott, miss every shot, while I, the one taught by Stiles, was nailing every shot, like this kid Liam was. After I made my last shot, I headed over to Scott and Stiles.
"Scott!" I hissed. "What is going on with you? You're captain! Aren't you supposed to be good?" He. Nodded and Stiles turned to me sceptically.
"Are you using wolf powers?" I shook my head, honestly, Stiles getting Scott to listen to my heartbeat.
"I'm not, I swear." Scott nodded and I pat his shoulder.
"Come on, we can't let a freshman be team captain." He nodded in agreement, both of them did just as coach blew his whistle.
"Hustle!" I smiled, following the two over to coach and smiling smugly at me being the only girl in this large group of boys. "McCall and Stilinski, grab the long sticks. You're covering goal for two-on-ones." The two nodded and I patted both of their shoulders before following the rest of the boys out onto the field. As the boys kept going, it soon became my turn. "Hale!" I looked over to coach. "Lose the heels!" I looked down at my shoes and I heard Garret snicker, I sent him a deadly glare before kicking off my shoes and elegantly picking them up.
"I will cram one through your throat, Garret." He rolled his eyes and I handed my shoes to the boy behind the boy behind me, sending him a grateful smile. "Thank you." He nodded, trying to ignore the fact I'd be doing this in just socks. I picked up a ball and readied myself to run towards two of my oldest friends. I tightened my fingers around the stick, hearing m y knuckles crack before relaxing and sprinting towards Scott and Stiles, easily avoiding them by sliding between the two, on my side and standing quickly enough to make the shot, and succeed.
"Well done, Hale!" Coach put the usual amount of emphasis on the well and I smiled, heading back passed the boys,
"That kid, Liam, anger issues, don't take him lightly." The two nodded and got ready for him since I had gone before him. I let the serious demeanour fall and smiled again, collecting my shoes form the boy I had handed them to.
Once tryouts were over, I hurried to catch up to the boys at the hospital, my socks tucked away in my bag and my shoes back on. Th sound of my heels was quick to catch Scott's attention before he spotted his mom just after, seeing as I had arrived before them and brought her dinner.
"Uh...Hi, mom." Stiles waved, also trying to hold Liam up.
Liam was put into a wheelchair and I hit my two dumbass friends upside the back of their heads.
"You broke his leg?!" I whispered harshly.
"Hey! In our defence, he's too good!" Stiles argued and I stared at him in shock.
"Stiles! That's no excuse! He's a kid!" He rolled his eyes and I just sighed. "Coach said he'd put the positions up tomorrow, then we'll find out how good he is." There was a moment of silence as we watched Melissa wheel him away.
"Uh, I gotta get going. I promised Malia I'd help her study." A small growl left my lips, knowing where that would probably lead.
"(Y/n)?" Scott spoke this time. "You okay?"
"I'm gonna go check on Liam."
"She's still not okay with Malia?"
"I don't know why...but yeah. She's not..."
I gently knocked on the door I saw Liam was taken through and opened it to see a doctor and the boy I was looking for.
"Sorry, um, I can come back?" The doctor shook his head and welcomed me into the room.
"A friend of Liams?" I shrugged, not really knowing how to answer.
"I was at tryouts, just wanted to see how he was doing." I shook the doctor's hand. "I'm (Y/n), (Y/n) Hale."
"Initiative, I like that." I nodded with a chuckle.
"My mother always taught my siblings and I to introduce ourselves when we saw a chance, to be polite."
"I'm Liam's father." I nodded and so did he nodded, patting Liam's back as I went to the other side of the bed, silently as Liam was about to speak.
"I went up against two Juniors." Clearly this man had asked Liam what had happened. "One of them is captain of the team." I heard his voice break and gently rest my hand on his with a sweet smile.
"Remember what we always say? Play smart, not hard." Liam looked over to me once his dad had said that.
"Like how you went under them?" I nodded.
"You have to think of alternatives. If you can't go around them, go under or over." He turned back to his dad, my hand now resting on his shoulder, rubbing calmly against it.
"Are you mad at me?"
"No, of course not. Your mom might be mad at me for getting you into Lacrosse, but maybe we should both wait for the x-ray before we panic. And trust me, I have more reason to panic than you." The pair chuckled and I rubbed my hand gently over Liam's back as a form of comfort. "It's not over yet, wait for the x-ray. And (Y/n), you play Lacrosse?" I nodded.
"Only recently."
"Keep an eye on him, please, just so he doesn't get hurt again." I nodded with a smile as he walked out of the room.
"I'm sorry about Scott. He's just tense and scared he's gonna lose the captain position, I wouldn't worry too much about it." He nodded, smiling when I did. "And between you and me, Stiles, is a big sarcastic softie, he won't hurt you, okay?" He nodded again, resting his head on my shoulder when I perched myself on the bed. "So, are you a friend of Garrets?" He nodded again. "He's a right twat, saying I can't play in heels, honestly, I made more shots than him."
"How long have you know Scott and Stiles?" I shrugged.
"Since I was a kid, I live with Stiles anyway, so I know him better than anyone else. I hear you transferred from Devenford." Liam nodded, yet again. "It sucks, enrolling at a school when you don't know anyone." He slowly nodded again.
"How do you know?"
"When I was around 13, I transferred back into a Beacon Hills school and I didn't know anyone. It sucked because I was so awkward."
"Why'd you transfer?" I was quiet for a moment, but replied anyway.
"My family died, except for my three siblings and me, but now there's three of us and my maniac uncle."
"But you said only your siblings, that means there was four of you, how is there three now and your uncle?" I shrugged.
"My uncle barely survived the fire and was in a coma for six years, he's out of it now. And my sister is in South America, my brother is here but my oldest sister, she died here in Beacon Hills." Liam slowly nodded again and sat up, giving me a sad smile.
"Sorry..."
"Hey, you asked a question and I answered. It's been years, I'm over it."
