It wasn't very long after senior scribe, and I had quietly made my way to school in my car, Derek 's old car, and soon found a parking space. I grabbed my bag from the seat beside me and made my way through the parking lot towards the school, flicking through my phone as I did so. As I went to walked passed the bike lock up, a hand grabbed mine and I looked up from my phone and turned around, finding a very cute boy with fluffy blonde hair and the most mesmerising eyes.
"You dropped this." I looked down at his hand and found one of my notebooks for class, lightly taking it from his hand and slipping it into my bag again.
"Thanks. You look familiar, have we...?" He shook his head, the cutest smile slipping onto his lips.
"I'm sure I'd remember someone as beautiful as you." A smile made its way across my face and he introduced himself. "I'm Theo." And that's when it hit me and my smile fell in realisation.
"As in fourth grade Theo Raeken?" He nodded and I smiled. "You seriously don't recognise me?" He shook his head a little and I rolled my eyes, soon muttering to myself. "I mean it has been a few years and I've grown up a lot..."
"Are you okay?" There was concern in Theo's voice.
"Oh right! (Y/n) Hale." I pointed to myself, the memory finally seeming to hit Theo.
"Oh my god, you, uh, you look amazing, I'm sorry I didn't recognise you." A small laugh escaped me and Theo smiled.
"Puberty hit you good, huh?" He chuckled and nodded.
"Both of us apparently." I giggled and followed him up into the school, talking about random stuff since I hadn't seen him in so long, passing Stiles and Malia, catching them out of the side of my eye.
"How come you're back in Beacon Hills?" He shrugged, adjusting his bag strap.
"Family moved back, I have no idea why." I nodded, Theo following me over to my locker as we continued to talk.During our free period, Theo ended up telling me about the fact that he was a werewolf and how he became one.
"Wait, you can skateboard?" He nodded with a smirk, amsued at how that was the detail I focused on.
"That's not what we're focussing on, (Y/n)." Stiles scolded me as we all stood in the boys locker room. I shrugged, looking elsewhere in the room.
"What? It's hot." I watched Stiles roll his eyes, Theo smirking still.
"Anyway, I didn't even realise that it was night until the yard lights came on. Like I said, I wasn't very good. On my last try, I went down and hit hard. Really hard. I was sitting there at the bottom of the pool and I realised something. I never heard the board come back down." The three of us, Stiles, Scott and I, carefully listened to Theo tell his story. "It came at me fast. I barely had a chance to turn around before it bit me. Right here." H pointed to the side of his stomach, the right side.
"Well, it wasn't an accident, he wanted to turn you."
"Right so, why aren't you part of his pack then? Why didn't he come back for you?" Stiles asked, leaning against a row of lockers while I sat on one of the benches.
"Because by the time of my first full moon, he was dead."
"How'd you know that?" Stiles continued to question, wanting to get the full story.
"I met another one of his pack a couple weeks later. He told me the Alpha that bit me was killed by two of his own Beta's. They were twins." Scott and Stiles looked at each other while I thought that over, finding it strange. "S-Scott, listen to my pulse. I'm telling the truth."
"Right, or you just know how to steady your own heart rate while you're lying your ass off." I unnoticeably nodded, agreeing with Stiles.
"Why would I lie?"
"Because maybe you're not who you say you are." Scott and I looked at each other nervously.
"In fourth grade you had an inhaler, I had one, too. I remember this day where I ended up in the nurse's office with an asthma attack. A bad one. I was waiting to be taken to the ER. You were waiting for the Principal. You told me what would happen when you go to the ER for asthma. How they give you oxygen and an IV of prednisone. You made it sound easy." I bit my lip, something seriously not adding up about his story. "Like everything would be okay. I've been by myself this whole time. Everybody knows that lone wolves, they don't make it on their own. I swear, I'm that same kid from fourth grade. I was hoping you are, too." The bell rung before any of us could answer and Theo sighed. "I better not be late for class. You're not the only ones I need to make a good impression on." Once Theo left, my two best friends stared at me in confusion because I was staring at the ground for too long.
"(Y/n)? You okay?" I shook my head as Scott and Stiles picked up their bags, I did the same and stood up, answering Scott's question. "We have to give people the benefit of the doubt sometimes." I shook my head, nodding to Stiles
"He's right, Theo's lying."We arrived back home and I sat in Stiles room with Scott and the room's owner, no one else.
"(Y/n), he's not lying." I stared at the Alpha with a deadpanned 'really' look and he sighed, asking me why I thought so. "He said twin beta's killed their Alpha and another member of the pack told him, right?" Scott nodded, Stiles sitting in his desk chair tapping a pen against his lips. "What twin Alpha's did we know who killed their Alpha?"
"Ethan and Aiden." Stiles nodded in agreement with Scott's answer.
"Exactly, but that's where Theo started lying. His entire story was a lie."
"How? How is his story a lie? We have to give people the benefit of the doubt! I told you this!" Scott had been stood up and was growing frustrated. I stood in front of him, just as frustrated as he continued to yell. "We can't just assume he's lying! You need proof! And you don't have that proo-"
"I do! Ethan and Aiden killed their entire pack! Then the Alpha! No one would have survived to tell Theo!" Scott stared at me, clearly frustrated. "And Ethan and Aiden did that as Omegas! Not Betas!"
"We're giving him the benefit of the doubt."
"No, you are. I don't trust him, he's lying to you, Scott."
"We're, giving him, a chance."
"You are!" I shouted at him, the sound mixing with a low growl.
"I'm the Alpha! I say we give him a chance." I glared at him, Stiles surprised he pulled the Alpha card. My voice fell to a simple growl.
"You're no Alpha of mine, McCall! My brother, my mother, my uncle, they were my Alpha's," I looked him up and down, snarling. "Not you. I don't care if you're a 'true Alpha', I'll never be your Beta."
With that, I left the room and headed down the stairs and out the door, going to my car and driving off....to the animal clinic.I found Deaton in the back room as usual and sent him a small smile.
"(Y/n), what can I do for you?"
"Derek said you know what I am, that my mother brought me to you to see what I was." He nodded and gestured for me to come over to the table.
"You are something incredibly rare, something that is hard to find that has survived this long. Supernatural like you don't usually live passed eight. Miss Hale, I do believe you might be rarer than our dear Scott." I stared at him in confusion.
"So what am I?"
"(Y/n), you are what we Druids call a 'Hybrid', you are two supernatural creatures bred into one person."
"Okay...but what two creatures am I? I know I'm a werewolf, but what else am I?" Deaton rounded the table and handed me something I had seen my mother move around the house countless time, it was a charm on a thick black thread.
"Your mother handed this to me when she first came to see me about you. It's a pendant created to assist you." I stared at the small black crystal on the end of the thread in curiosity. "You happen to be half Werewolf and half Witch. This charm with help you learn your powers as well as help you control them." He then handed me a thick leather bound book.
"What's this?"
"A spell book."
"A what now?"
"A spell book. It's filled with magic spells from beginner to incredibly advanced, as well as potions and medicinal recipes." I nodded as he set the necklace charm onto the book. "Now I am aware that you've had difficulty with your wolf side recently, so these may prove to be a little more useful to you." I nodded and he set one last thing on the table, something I wasn't expecting at all. On the metal table was this tiny black kitten with a gorgeous and bright amber eye as well as a brilliant pale blue. I smiled at let the kitten sniff my hand before it rubbed its head against it. "Every witch needs a familiar."
