"For starter, you must know your grip," Eun Byeol started, her words are slow so the boys have time to process what she was saying, "There are four types of grip; The hammer grip, McEvoy grip, The pinch grip and and the slider grip." she continues, showing them the different grips at the same time she says the name.
"What do you use?" Jin asks, his fingers playing with the handle of the knife Eun Byeol let them borrow.
"Pinch grip, it's when you pinch the tip of the blade with your thumb and index finger. It gives me a more rapid and forceful throwing." she answered. Hoseok gulped when she demonstrated the grip, looking at the blade of the knife he was holding and taking note of how the sharp point glisten under the sunlight, almost in a mocking way.
"But what do you suggest for us to use? Like for a beginner." he asks, moving his gaze from the blade and to Eun Byeol.
"Hammer grip is the most basic and easiest to use when throwing knives. It's just how you grip a hammer," Eun Byeol then go to demonstrate the grip, her fingers wrapping on the cold handle of the knife while her thumb rests on the upper-part of the handle, "Just make sure to have your thumb rest on the upper-part of the handle for extra control."
She walks over the guys, examining their grip.
"Namjoon, you're gripping to much near the blade, it could slash you." Eun Byeol stated after stopping infront of Namjoon who holds the knife dangerously close to the blade.
"You don't have to grip it tightly, just the right amount of tightness." she said when her eyes landed on Jungkook's hand that was going pale because of how tight he holds the handle.
"The next thing you should see is your stance. Step your foot forward and the other foot back, it should be forming 45 degree angle. Whichever hand is your dominant hand, the foot your stepping forward should be the opposite foot." When the boys got confused, Namjoon immediately explains in korean.
"Your other free hand should be pointed at the target as if your aiming, bring your dominant hand back and throw the knife as you step forward." Eun Byeol stated, throwing the knife onto the target, the knife half spinned mid air before it penetrates the target.
"Make sure that the knife slides fluidly away from your trip when you throw it. Now you guys try."
The guys did it one by one, most of them missing the target, one manage to penetrate the legs of the target and the other hitting the first outer circle. Seokjin laugh when Namjoon's knife didn't even make it half across the field and instead, the knife penetrates the grassy land.
"You let go of the knife a little bit late so it would really go down. Alter your release time next time." Eun Byeol stated, patting Namjoon on the shoulder as Seokjin's windshield laugh echoes on the whole garden.
"You did great, Jungkook. A little more practice would land you to the center." she complemented the maknae who blushes in deep red.
"What about me, Byeol-ah? I managed to stick the knife on the target!" Jimin pouted.
"--on the target's legs you mean." Taehyung snorted.
"Let's play a game!" Jin exclaimed in excitement. The boys looks at him in confusion urging him to continue, "Whoever gets the lowest point had to grant the winner's wish. Of course Eun Byeol will be the judge."
"Anything?" Jimin asks.
"Anything."
The boys shared a look for a couple of seconds until Yoongi said, "Call." and so the other members agreed.
