Chapter 41

"Noona, what really happened? I mean, we saw you got shot on the stomach." Taehyung stated, stealing a slice of green apple from the plate on Jungkook's lap.

"Yah! That's for Byeol-ah!" the latter yelled, smacking Taehyung's hand and was about to snatch the slice of apple back when the former immediately shove it inside his mouth.

Eun Byeol chuckle, groaning after because it causes vibration on her chest. It has been 3 days since she got hospitalized. Yeshin was diagnosed with Obsessive-compulsive disorder and was send back to a psychiatric hospital outside of Seoul. Her gang, however were sentenced a life time in prison because of multiple violation of law. Hyungwon was first sentenced a life time to jail but it got lifted because he agreed to be a whistleblower. He only have 20 years in prison instead of a life time.

"Hyungwon didn't really shot me. He's too weak mentally to actually kill a person," she explained.

"B-but we saw it. You got shot and you fainted. We thought that you really died." Jimin stated.

The maknae line were the one who is incharge of taking care of her while she's recovering. Eun Byeol said that they didn't need to but they insists.

"I did fainted but it's because of exhaustion and blood loss. Fortunately, Hyungwon uses a blank cartridge meaning that it doesn't have a bullet but it still going to make a flash and sound when fired. It's still dangerous but because of the distance, it didn't really affect me." she explains. Kei and the backup arrived right after she fainted, fighting and arresting the gang members while she goes to wake her up. She was supposed to stay put while they are rescuing the boys because of her injuries but she acted against it, snapping back a "They're my mission. I promised them that I will do anything to protect them therefore I'm going to be the one to finish it all. They're my responsibility." to which Kei answered, "Sometimes, you're hero reflex wasn't doing you any good."

"You jerked back when he fired." Jimin murmured, sitting on the edge of her bed and staying close as possible but still making sure that he wouldn't hurt her in any way. Eun Byeol let him do it just because he's acting like a cute puppy, almost like how Onyx acts around her.

"Really? I didn't even remember doing that." the girl shrug, looking at Jungkook who has his hand outstretch and a slice of apple in between the tips of his fingers.

"Ah~" Jungkook uttered when the girl just stare at the apple he's offering.

"You know I can perfectly use my hands."

"Yeah? What hand?" Jungkook retaliated with a smirk, knowing full well that Eun Byeol shouldn't move her arms so much. Her right arm was covered with gauze while the other has an IV inserted on it. The doctor advised her to minimize her hand movements while it's still healing.

Eun Byeol glared at him, opening her mouth and accepting the slice of apple from Jungkook who is smirking in triumph.

"Ah! I remember something!" Jimin exclaimed, standing up and walking towards Taehyung who were discretely stealing another piece of apple on the plate, "Yoongi hyung asks us to buy some meat for our dinner." he continued, grabbing Taehyung on the forearm and pulling him up.

"I don't remember---"

"We don't want to anger Yoongi hyung, right? I still want to live a long life."  Jimin cutted him, pulling him out of the room but not before he winks on Jungkook who just look at them with unimpressed look.

"Ah wae?!" Taehyung's whining was the last thing they heard followed by the door closing.

"Nothing's really change, huh." Eun Byeol commented after a minute of silence.

"Uh-huh." Jungkook answered, feeding her again with another slice of apple.

"How's work? What did the fans says or did they even know?"

"Actually, it was a fan who reported to Bang PD-nim that we were attacked that night. Bang PD-nim called SIA to asks for backup and they sent Kei since she's staying on Japan I think," Jungkook heave a sigh, "ARMY is so worried about us and started signing a petition to cancel our schedule so we could rest. Of course, we doesn't need that since Bang PD-nim already cancelled the tour. They moved it next month so we could rest."

Jungkook stare at her with uncertainty laces on his doe eyes. Eun Byeol heave a sigh, "shoot."

"A-about what you have said when confronting that Yeshin. You've mentioned that you ditch death 2 times. I-I," Jungkook averted his eyes, "I don't mean to pry so if you don't--"

Eun Byeol interrupted him by place her palm on top of the back of his hand, lightly grasping it as she smiles, "I don't mind telling it to you. Don't stress yourself out." she chuckles.

Still looking at their intertwined hands, his doe eyes widen in surprise as a faint blush adorning his cheeks. He gulped.

"I already told you the first time. It was when the ship we're in capsizes. I was just a little kid, no older than six when that happens so I know nothing about survival. I thought I'm going to die as i watch the people scurry around to find themselves a safe boat. I don't even wear a safety jacket. I can't find my parents so as a child could think, I just cried in the corner. That was until Papa came scooping me up and carrying me to safety." Jungkook noticed the sadness on her eyes so he grasp Eun Byeol's hand starts tracing circle with his thumb. The lass smiles at his sweet gesture.

"It was after three weeks that they told me that my family died in the accidents and no one came to claim me. I was orphaned but that was until they said that someone wants to adopt me. I found another family from Papa and Mom.

My childhood was amazing. My memories about my life before the accidents was fuzzy but Papa and Mom fill the void. That was until they got into a huge fight that causes them to divorced their marriage but don't worry, they stay as friends. I'm still hoping that they will come back to each other because deep inside, I know they still love each other."

"The second one was actually just a year ago," In this, Jungkook's ears perk in interest.

"It happened on my last mission. A mafia clan stole a $35 Million worth of painting in national museum and I was tasked to spy on them. They caught and ambushed me. I slipped into a comma for 6 months and woke up on the same day of my birthday. The agency make---well, forced me to take a 7 month rest until they gave me a new assignment which is your case. In that span of 6 months in comma, they are uncertain that I would wake up because of the blow my head received. They said that only the machines were the one keeping me alive. I was practically dead but miracle happens. I guess it wasn't my time yet."

Jungkook doesn't know what to say. He's sure that it wasn't only the time she run away from death. By the kind of job she has, he's certain that she always on life and death situation.

Jungkook look up, they're eyes met. Then his eyes move down to her lips. It has cuts but it still looks tempting. Eun Byeol's plump lips were ever so lightly parted, tempting Jungkook to claim it.

The lad gulped, slowly leaning as he closes his eyes. Eun Byeol unknowingly followed, waiting to feel his lips on hers.

She could feel his warm breathe, his lips inches away from hers---

"Ehem."

The two of them snapped their eyes open, Jungkook literally jumping away from Eun Byeol. Both of them have deep blush creeping on their cheeks.

"Papa"
