I walked into the living room only to be stopped by Mason and Xavina. "We're going to the beach!" Mason announced.

"Wanna join?" Xavina asked. They got over me insulting her entire species rather quick.

"Umm..."

"You don't really have the privilege to decline." Blue flipped to the next page of his book.

"Sure!" I mustered up all of my enthusiasm. The two grinned and said that we were leaving in 10 minutes.

The drive down to the beach didn't take that long since the mansion is on a cliff overlooking the beach. Thankfully, Nicola decided to join us so I wouldn't awkwardly be third wheeling. Mason and Xavina told us to shush for a moment as they listened to the ocean breeze. A shit eating grin spread across their faces before they broke out into a sprint. Xavina... stripped naked?! I adverted my gaze as she discarded all her clothes and then dove into the water. Thank God that Mason kept his shorts on. Unlike Xavina though, he jumped onto the rocks in the ocean. He climbed around until he found a comfortable spot to sit on.

"Watch this." Nicola whispered in my ear. I turned to look at her but she nudged me to watch the ocean. I turned around and gasped when I saw Xavina's head pop up out of the ocean. Soon after her, more heads popped up after the other until there were 7 people chatting with Mason. Xavina used her hands to climb up the rock and settled herself in Mason's lap. His strong arms wrapped around her as he talked to the others. Xavina's celestial colored scales glimmered against the sun's rays. Some of the other mermaids climbed up onto the rock while the others remained in the ocean. Mason pointed at us which resulted in the mermaids turning and waving at us. I shyly waved back at them.

"Hope he's not saying anything too bad." I whispered to Nicola.

"Nah. They understand your hesitantion around mermaids. Those mermaids there are Xavina's friends. Her friends love Mason, so she invites him whenever she meets up with her friends. Also, she'll go home with them sometimes. That's why you didn't meet her when you arrived in LA a while ago." Nicola smiled at them. "Wanna go explore LA? I'll be a proper guide for you." She confidently stated. I nodded yes since I don't think she would understand rejection.

I sat crisscross on the plush couches as I was eating lo mein. Nicola was correct when she said that'd she be a good guide. She pointed out the Hollywood sign, showed me the Hollywood walk of fame, Grauman's Chinese Theater, Rodeo Drive (it was mostly for her since she went on a shopping spree and had everything delivered to the house), and an art museum. It was nice of her to take me there since she didn't understand art at all besides a painting being "pretty." Right now, we were lounging around in the VIP section of Justin's club. The colorful LED lights would give an epileptic person a seizure. The music was blaring loud, but Nicola and I were able to hear each other properly.

"This food's really good."

"Duh! This is LA. There are tons of great Chinese places. So, what do you think of LA so far? Up to your standards?" She smirked and sucked on her straw.

"I mean... ya it's cool. Just trying to get used to the people here." I shrugged.

"Ooh... which people?" She placed her drink on the table since she was clearly interested.

"Well, for starters, all of you. I have to get used to the fact that you guys are really a gang. I mean Alaric said it, but I didn't believe him. And then so much stuff happened. Alec just thrusted me into a mission that could've killed me multiple times. First the hurricane, then the sirens... oh and I offended Mason and Xavina. Luckily, they've forgiven me. And then I'm taken to Korea and China where I encounter onis, nogitsunes, and a dragon. A DRAGON!" I flailed my arms around. "And I have to deal with Pierce's annoying ass. Like I just found out he's a father and a terrible one by the way. He was so rude to his daughter and her mother. Like absolutely terrible. He dismissed them. I felt so bad for Vera." I shook my head.
