"Is it really necessary that I train? I'm very competent with my abilities." I protested to Alec.

"Yes because where we're going... your abilities don't make you special. Everyone there is advanced. At least for human standards, anyways. You need to be proficient enough with actual weapons."

"Why can't you train me instead of Pierce?" I glared at the annoying Irishman across the room.

"Because I feel like he'll push you through more of a rigour than I. Plus, you get to beat the crap out of him. You really wanna pass that up?" Alec raised an eyebrow. I just reluctantly sighed which made him smile. "I'll be in the library with Blue." He kissed my forehead before leaving me in the living room with Pierce. Pierce began to walk off so I followed him into a dojo. When we entered, we saw Vera attempting to practice with a sword.

"Careful of hurting the sword." Pierce's voice caused her to jump. He strode forwards and took the sword from her. "Now, what were you doing?" He smirked while maneuvering the weapon in his hand.

"Nothing." Vera averted her gaze.

"It didn't seem like nothing. Last time I checked, your mother rebuked you for touching her katana."

"Well, she left with Byul to accompany Jason and Mason somewhere, so she isn't here." Vera retorted. "Why do you even care about what she says I can and can't do?"

"Because you may strain a muscle." Pierce patronized her.

"Is this because I'm a girl-"

"This is because you're a child playing a dangerous game with an adult weapon! What if you wounded yourself?! You had no guidance." Pierce and her were locked in a staring battle. Vera scoffed and brushed passed her father. Pierce closed his eyes before responding, "your foxfire."

"What?" Vera asked confused.

"Your mother banned you from wielding a weapon because she didn't want you activating your kitsune side. Although, I protest that you should be able to defend yourself. Come here." He waved her over and handed her back the katana. "Hope, pick up a weapon." He motioned to the various weapons decorating the studio. I picked up a shorter sword and approached him. "Land a hit." He instructed.

"Seriously? You don't even have a weapon." I said.

"Don't need a weapon. Now, come on." He was growing impatient. I shrugged my shoulders and swung at him, only for him to dodge it and disarm the sword from me. "Told you." He let it clatter to the side. I stood there in awe since I didn't know that he possessed that skill. "Again." He commanded. This process went on for about 15 minutes with the same result. I would attack him and he would dodge me, disarm me, and then rebuke/ insult my form and anything else about me.

"You're getting nowhere!" He roared at me.

"Well, you're just a terrible teacher!" I fired back at him. Pierce was about to say something, but stopped.

"Fine. Why don't I get someone else to train you? A master in many arts... Taiga, please join us." He glanced over his shoulder. Taiga had been observing us while leaning on the door frame.

"I'm no master." He awkwardly chuckled.

"Humble isn't he?" Pierce grinned at us. "Please, come on." He put his arm around Taiga's shoulders and guided him towards Vera and I. "This guy..." he patted Taiga's chest. "Is a master in many different forms. A great marksman, tactician, fighter... the list goes on and on. He can train you both in hand to hand combat as well as a variety of weapons."

"Taiga? The guy who makes unicorn cupcakes and knits-"

"Crochet!" Taiga excitedly corrected me.
