The next morning, Pierce had brought Alec and I to Korea. He told his daughter that he wanted her to stay in LA because it was safer. She reluctantly agreed to his request. He also specifically asked Taiga to look after her. Taiga happily agreed to take the week off and spend time with the girl. I gasped when we entered the house in Korea. It was totally trashed. Alec told us to look for clues, but that was like looking for a needle in a haystack. It would be absolutely impossible to find anything among this wreckage.
"I can't find any-" I entered the living room to find a girl squatting down. She was intently staring at a card on the floor. She must've noticed me since she looked up. "Umm... guys! There's a person in here!" I called for the others. Alec and Pierce walked into the room. "You see her too, right?" I pointed at her.
"Nugun-de-yo?" Pierce questioned her. She stood up and looked at him. She was dressed in street casual wear. She wore black joggers, a white sports bra, and an oversized suit jacket. Pierce studied her a moment longer before breaking out into a grin. "I know you." I'm surprised he switched to English. "You're the one she refers to as Byul. The kitsune who's her personal guard. Clearly, you haven't done your job properly. I had to step in and take my daughter back to LA. Your job was to protect Solar and Vera! You failed!" He sneered at her.
"You know nothing." She pinned him to the wall. I went to move, but Alec held me back. "She wanted me to give her space since Vera was starting to catch on that they have bodyguards. I honored her request and dismissed the team, so that it was just me. Solar and I got into an argument about her safety. She then demanded that I leave her alone for a few hours and that's when they took her."
"So is your clan planning on skinning you alive?" Pierce prodded her.
"I told them they can do whatever they want to me after we find her. Here." Byul handed Pierce a card. "They want you to retrieve an amulet from a pyramid in Giza. We have two days before they kill her. You get the artifact as insurance while I and the other kitsunes try to find her."
"Fine. But know this, you do not command me. I'll work with you for the sake of my family. Remember this, your clan will turn on you and make an example out of you... no matter how much you're in love with their princess." Byul's eyes widened at Pierce. She made a motion to step forward, but he held out his hand to stop her. "My lips are sealed, but you better hope that her parents will listen to her pleas to save your life." Pierce brushed passed her. "Looks like we're off to Egypt." He announced.

I shimmied through a group of people on the crowded streets of Cairo. Pierce told us to stay put as he talked to a street vendor. Alec nudged me to follow him to a food stall where he bought me some Kofta kebabs. I tasted it and almost moaned in satisfaction. Pierce tapped our shoulders and told us that we would be escorted into the pyramids. A group of three men approached us and clasped their hands while the one in the middle addressed us.
