Scrunching up my face, I tossed my phone on the bed and continued getting the boys stuff together.
King had clothes over at his house, but I always packed a bag for em just incase they didn't like what their dad had.
"Ma?" I looked up and seen my oldest son, X.
"Whats up baby?" I looked at him as I sat the two nike bags down.
"Why dad no stay with us?" He inquired as he looked at me with a frown on his face.
I sighed, "daddy and mommy aren't together anymore — we just aren't happy together baby. But listen daddy loves yall so much!" I tried explaining to the best of my ability — how you tell a 4 year old that daddy don't know how to stay out of prison and thats why we ain't together.
"Do you love da?"
"Of course I love daddy, you know this."
He sighed, "then why yall not together?"
"Baby bo-," the doorbell rang making me sigh.
Saved by the bell.
"Hold that thought," standing to my feet, I went to the door and without looking to see who it was I opened it and frowned once I seen my ex, Quan.
"What?" I questioned him as I kept an eye on the bat sitting by my door.
If I learned anything, it was always to keep a bat near because these niggas are crazy.
"What you mean what? I'm here to see my kids," he smirked as he pushed past me.
"Your kids? Boy what?" I mugged him as I went and picked up Kartier.
"Xavier come here," I called him over and he ran towards me but Quan yanked him up instead.
"Quan .. put my son down, right now." I told him.
"Nah .. I just feel like if I can't have you, then you can't have nobody."
In an instant, he pulled out a gun and pointed it at my sons head.
