Becas POV
"Becs... Becs baby, wake up." Chloe softly said as my eyes fluttered open. "Good morning."
"Morning." I say sleepily. "What time is it?"
"Six." Chloe said smiling softly at me.
"Why did you wake me up so early." I grumble cuddling into her side.
"I woke you up so early because it's our anniversary." Chloe said suddenly loosing her smile. "It's been five years since you left me."
"And me." Stacie said suddenly appearing.
"All of us." The entire town suddenly said.
That's all I could hear. I left them all. The people who raised me. The room started to swallow me up. Then suddenly I woke up. Of course it was just a dream. Chloe is back In Atlanta and I'm here in LA. I looked over at the clock to see it was exactly six. It's the anniversary since I left. It's always the same dream. Same dream for five years. I slowly willed myself out of bed and into the shower. I closed my eyes and instantly saw crystal blue. She's going to haunt me all day. I quickly finished my business and got into my regular outfit. A white top, black leather jacket, ripped jeans,  and high tops. I pulled out my laptop and checked my work emails and saw one from my manager. My songs getting released today. Right. I have a talk show interview. Wonderful.
"Why does it have to be today of all days?" I asked myself quietly. "You know what... today's the day."
I grabbed a duffel bag and grabbed some clothes and stuffed them in. I grabbed my keys and went out to the car. Why am I doing this again? Oh right. I'm making things right. I started the car and quickly dialed Ellen's number.
"Hello?" I heard her answer after a couple of rings.
"Hey Ellen, it's uh Beca." I say as I turned a corner. "I don't think I will be able to make the interview today."
"Why's that? I thought your song was going to be released live?" Ellen asked reminding me of what we planned.
"Well I decided to take an unexpected trip to my home town today." I say casually. "And I need to be there today so I can't make it. I'm really sorry."
"Well can't you just phone into the show or something?" Ellen questioned. "I don't think I can find someone on such short notice."
"Yeah I can do that." I say slightly nodding as I got on the freeway. "Just call me when it's time."
We said our goodbyes before she hung up. I sat in silence before I got off the exit leading to the small town. I quickly changed the station to the one I constantly listened to when I was here. Tiny dancer started playing. I was using an old road. I haven't drove down them in awhile, I still remember it like yesterday. There was some old buildings along the way. There's one that always resembles a castle. I would play kingdom with my friends there. Chloe was always the Princess and I was always her knight. I heard my phone ring and I say Ellen's name. I quickly answered and say a large crowd. It's time for the show I guess.
"Okay can you see me?" I asked looking down briefly.
"Yes we can." I heard Ellen say. "So would you care to explain why we had to call you for your interview?"
"Well for those who don't know me I'm very impulsive." I say with a light chuckle. "So this morning I woke up and decided I was going to take a road trip."
"Always have to be spontaneous don't you?" Ellen laughed a long with the audience. "So Beca can you tell us about your new song?"
"Yes I can." I say forcing a smile. "So it kind of talks about my childhood and how I was brought up. And it talks a little bit about my friends I had, but not much. I'm actually really proud of it. Definitely one of my favorites."
"It's definitely very rare that we get to peek inside your past." Ellen said with an evil glint in her eye. "Does this mean that we might possibly see some pictures of your childhood, or you now with some of your old friends on social media?"
"Uh sadly no. I don't have very many pictures from my childhood, and I've lost contact with most of my friends." I say glumly. "But I would be happy to sing my newest song for you."
"Take it away Beca." Ellen said.
"Alright. I will still need the bad to play for me if that alright." I say hearing them say different forms of a yes. "Alright... here we go!"
I pushed my gas causing me to go faster as the music started playing. This will hopefully get me there faster. I smirked before going into the lyrics.
"When I was six years old I broke my leg I was running from my brother and his friends and tasted the sweet perfume of the mountain grass I rolled down I was younger then, take me back to when I found my heart and broke it here
Made friends and lost them through the years" I smiled sadly at those lyrics. Why was I so stupid? "And I've not seen the roaring fields in so long, I know I've grown But I can't wait to go home
I'm on my way Driving at ninety down those country lanes Singing to "Tiny Dancer", And I miss the way you make me feel, and it's real. We watched the sunset over the castle on the hill
Fifteen years old and smoking hand-rolled cigarettes, Running from the law through the backfields and getting drunk with my friends Had my first kiss on a Friday night, I don't reckon that I did it right But I was younger then, take me back to when We found weekend jobs, when we got paid We'd buy cheap spirits and drink them straight Me and my friends have not thrown up in so long, oh how we've grown But I can't wait to go home I'm on my way Driving at ninety down those country lanes Singing to "Tiny Dancer" And I miss the way you make me feel, and it's real We watched the sunset over the castle on the hill Over the castle on the hill, Over the castle on the hill
One friend left to sell clothes, One works down by the coast, One had two kids but lives alone, One's brother overdosed, One's already on his second wife, One's just barely getting by, But these people raised me and I can't wait to go home And I'm on my way, I still remember these old country lanes When we did not know the answers And I miss the way you make me feel, it's real We watched the sunset over the castle on the hill, Over the castle on the hill, Over the castle on the hill"
Once the last bit played out I heard the cheers through my phone. I looked around and noticed that I just drove into my home town. I'm actually home. For the first time in five years I'm back.
"That was amazing!" Ellen praised.
"Why thank you." I say with a dramatic hair flip. "I really do need to get going though. I just arrived at my destination."
"Alright. Well thank you for sharing your song with us today. I hope you have a good trip." She said before ending the call.
This is the point where I wish that I thought this through more. I have no idea where I am going to stay. We never got any visitors so we don't have a motel. I guess I could try my dads. I pulled up to his house and saw his car in the driveway. He's home. I slowly got out of the car and walked up to the door. As soon as I knocked the door it opened. My dad instantly brought me into a hug. He's not mad?
"Um... hi." I say straightening my clothes once her released me.
"I saw you pull up into the driveway." He said gesturing to my Camaro. "So what are you doing here?"
"I wanted to come back and visit you?" I say trying to sound convincing only for him to raise his eyebrows. "... and Chloe."
"She definitely doesn't want to see you." He said becoming more serious. "I would try making it up to some of your other friends before her."
"You're probably right." I say kicking at the dirt. "But uh... can I stay here for a couple of days?"
"Your old room is just as you left it." He said stepping aside letting me in. "By the way I would start with Emily, she's probably going to be the easiest."
"Thanks dad." I say walking towards the stairs. "Do you happen to know where Emily would be by chance?"
"Probably visiting Levy's grave." He said sadly. "Make sure to be home by curfew."
"Curfew?" I ask with furrowed brows. "Dad I'm 23. I'm not 19 anymore."
"My house my rules." He said smirking. "But I'll extend it by an hour. Be home by eleven."
"Yes sir." I say saluting before dumping my stuff in my old room.
I walked downstairs, waved to my dad and left to go track down friend number one. This is going to be a very long and tiring trip.
