How could something so beautiful cause so much pain? Her head hurt just thinking about what she had seen on countless occasions. [y/n] didn't want to believe what she saw.
His slicked back hair, the whole cowboy fixation, and that stupid grin [y/n] could gander at for hours on end. [y/n] loved Jack Kelly, her brother's friend. It hurt that he didn't seem to like her back.
Everyday, she kept trying to give him signs. She even told her brother to help her out. Why wasn't that enough? [y/n] kept eyeing him flirt with girls every single day as if it were a song on replay. She knew all the words. She knew how it would turn out. It was a new girl with him everyday.
[y/n] was so fed up with his obliviousness that she decided to stop talking to him. After all, it was more painful to talk to him than ignore him.

"[n/n], c'mon, you haven't left the house in forever!" David frowned.
"I do get out of the house." [y/n] replied, laying on her bed in her pajamas.
"Yeah, for chores." Her brother retorted.
[y/n] glared at him. "I'll get out tomorrow."
"No."
"Why not?!"
"Because," David pondered what to say before continuing. "I'll tell mom and dad that you don't really do the chores incredibly slow, you just wander around the town out of boredom."
[y/n]'s brows furrowed and her [e/c] eyes widened. It bothered her how persistent David was. Could he be more determined?
"You'll be a snitch then." [y/n] pointed out.
"Fine with me." David wore a shit-eating grin.
Les walked into the room, smiling at his siblings. "Mom says we can go sell now."
"See? Now you really can't get out 'cause we already told mom you were coming." David laughed.
[y/n] groaned, slipping out of bed and bringing clean clothes to her restroom to get changed. Then, she brushed her hair, teeth, and frowned in her mirror.
"Please, David, don't do this." [y/n] whined to her older brother.
"I'm sorry, but you need to come!" David attempted to reason. "And besides, you can confess to Jack maybe?"
"Yeah. Sure. Fine." [y/n] sighed and squinted as the daylight absolutely burned her [e/c] eyes. "Like he'll ever feel the same."
"Well, c'mon [n/n], we can show ya how good we are at selling papes!" Les smiled, grabbing his sister's hand as he led her outside towards the distribution center with her brother.
As the siblings walked, [y/n] watched the sky, the clouds, and the way couples laughed and joked with each other. All intoxicating things she loved, but today, she was too anxious to be distracted by such things. She wondered about Jack, what she would say to him, and why she was so nervous.
