Today was the first day of lessons but because of the night before Elena was exhausted, she didn't even hear her alarm going off before a hissing sound flittered through her consciousness. She felt something wet hit her cheek and it reminded her of the time Dean bought her a cat home after that one job it was so happy kissing Elena's cheek whenever she was in reach. But her eyes immediately snapped open in alert.

She didn't have a cat now or here, so what the hell was touching her arm?

"Elena, Elena?" Pansy called out from the doorway. "Come on, Elena. You've got to get up" Elena slowly turned her head to face Pansy until she came face to face with a snake its fork-like tongue darting out and swatting a kiss against her nose.

"What. The. Hell?" she breathed out trying to lie as still as she possibly could. God, she hated snakes.

"Slytherin's Princess."

"What?" Elena gaped at the hissing reptile.

"The heir of Slytherin" it replied wrapping itself around her arm.

What's wrong?" Pansy questioned watching the two, "Diamond, come here" she instructed and the next second with a final stare at Elena it listened slowly slithering off her and down the bedpost.

"W-Why, why is there a snake in our room?" she asked trying to shake the feeling of a freaking snake talking to her off.

Pansy raised a perfect eyebrow, "he's my familiar" she shrugged. "Now, get up before we're late for classes. I'll see you in the Great Hall for breakfast" and with that, she was flicking her brown her to the side and sashaying out the door.

Elena's head hit the pillow as she let out a shaky breath, adrenaline racing through her at an insane rate as she threw the covers off of her and climbed out of bed. "Crap!" she cursed doing her very best to avoid Pansy's pet snake as she rushed on her uniform and tied up her hair in a messy ponytail. She almost forgot she needed to phone her brothers and let them know she was okay before class started.

Elena grabbed her bag and with one swift jump over Diamond, she was out the door and jogging into the common room where she immediately bumped into Blaise and Draco, "Sorry" she mumbled not seeing them.

"Slow down, girl" Blaise teased.

"Morning" Draco smiled as they made their way out of the dungeons.

"Wait, the Great Hall's this way" they gestured up the stairs when Draco saw her heading for the front door.

"Yeah, you know breakfast" Blaise reminded her.

"Yeah, I'll catch up" Elena called out halfway out the door already, "I gotta phone Sam and Dean quick."

"I thought she already had her phone anti-spelled against magical interference?" Blaise asked as they slid into their usual seats.

"She did" Draco half-heartedly nodded as he held his hand out for a glass of orange juice, "new phone, last one she lost in a fire."

"A fire?" Blaise questioned in surprise his eyebrows shooting up to his hairline.

"Malfoy, Zabini" Pansy turned away from her conversation with Nott and his two idiot friends to look at them, "where's Elena? Don't tell me she's still sleeping."

"Why do you care where she is?" Draco fired at her his obvious dislike of the Parkinson girl coming through.

"She's my friend" Pansy glared at him, "not that you would know what that's like" she retorted.

Blaise saw the fight coming before he even sat down and before it had the chance to spiral out of control he handed Draco a piece of toast almost stuffing it in his mouth to silence him then he turned back to Pansy one of his charmingly fake smiles plastered on. "Shove off, Pansy, yeah? Nott seems to be getting lonely with only Crabbe and Goyle as company."
