Eleven years ago

McGonagall sat in the shadows awaiting Dumbledore's arrival there were whispers and rumors spreading throughout the entire wizarding world about two children, two babies, one girl, and one boy. They were the children of Lily Potter and they were the reason the Dark Lord was finally defeated, but McGonagall had to be certain and her suspicions were correct when Dumbledore rounded the corner causing her to shift from her cat Anigmas back into her human self.

"I should have known that you'd be here, Professor McGonagall" Dumbledore smiled as he watched his good friend return to her normal state.

"Good evening, Professor Dumbledore" McGonagall greeted before the two walked on down the street, "are the rumors true, Albus?"

"I'm afraid so, Professor, the good and the bad" Dumbledore sighed.

"And the children?"

"Hagrid is bringing them" Dumbledore nodded.

"Do you think it wise to trust Hagrid with something as important as this?" McGonagall questioned with concern.

"Ah, Professor, I would trust Hagrid with my life" Dumbledore assured before a whirring sound ripped through the air and a pair of bright headlights shone down on the two professors as a bike flew towards them before skidding to a stop only a few feet away.

"Professor Dumbledore, Sir, Professor McGonagall" Hagrid greeted cutting the bike's engine before carefully climbing off with the two babies fast asleep in his arms.

"No problems, I trust Hagrid?" Dumbledore asked.

"No, Sir, the little tyke and the little princess fell asleep just as we were flying over Bristle" Hagrid informed them, "try not to wake 'em," he said handing Dumbledore the little boy and McGonagall the little girl.

"Albus" McGonagall huddled close to the Professor as they walked up to one of the houses, "do you really think it's safe leaving them with these people, I've watched them all-day they're the worst sort of muggles imaginable" McGonagall stated nervously, "they really are-"

"The only family he has" Dumbledore finished for her. "The girl will not be with him, I'm afraid" he sighed staring down at the little girl in the Professor's arms.

"Whatever do you mean, Albus?" McGonagall questioned in surprise at his words before a misted cloud appeared beside them.

"Ah, Severus, right on time" Dumbledore smiled.

"Albus, Minerva..." Snape nodded in acknowledgment before glancing over behind them at the giant, "Hagrid."

"Severus?" McGonagall glanced between the pair.

"McGonagall, Severus here is to take the girl somewhere else" Dumbledore informed the professor whose grip immediately tightened protectively around the baby in her arms.
