The two made it down the first flight of stairs but when it came to the last few steps just before the room in front of them, Harry's lightning bolt scar burned worse than ever and so did Elena's crescent moon scar.

"It's the mirror of Erised" Elena whispered as she nudged Harry in the side gaining his attention his eyes widened in complete and utter shock, Elena was right it wasn't Snape but it was definitely not someone he ever expected.

"You? N-No it can't be" Harry stuttered as Quirrel turned around his face expressionless, "Snape he was the one-"

"Yes, does seem the type, doesn't he?" Quirrel asked.

"Will you stop with Snape" Elena groaned in irritation.

"Because next to him who would suspect 'p-poor s-stut-stuttering P-Professor Quirrel'" Quirrel mocked.

"God, I knew it" Elena sighed.

"But that day during the Quidditch match Snape tried to kill me he tried to kill us," Harry said glancing from his sister back to Quirrel.

"No, dear boy I tried to kill you" Quirrel yelled.

"He was counter cursing, Quirrel, Harry" Elena whispered.

"And trust me if my cloak hadn't of caught on fire and broken my eye contact I would have succeeded even with Snape muttering his little counter curse" Quirrel spat out making Elena give Harry an 'I told you so' look.

"Snape was trying to save us," Harry said in realization.

"Finally!" Elena clapped.

"I knew you two were a danger to me right from the off especially after Halloween" Quirrel snapped.

"You let the troll in, seriously?" Elena exclaimed.

"Very good, Snape, yes, Snape your father, unfortunately, wasn't fooled when everyone else was running about the dungeon he went to the third floor to head me off he, of course, never trusted me again," Quirrel said slowly turning back to the mirror and making Harry and Elena's scars flare up in pain.

"He never trusted you from the start" Elena growled out holding her neck in comfort.

"Yes, well, he barely left me alone," Quirrel said his eyes drifting over the mirror, "but he doesn't understand I'm never alone... never," he said giving Elena the feeling his words held a double meaning to them, "now, what does this mirror do?" Quirrel asked as he stood perfectly in front of it, "I see what I desire I see myself holding the stone, but how do I get it?"

"Use the children."

"Come here, Potter! Snape!" Quirrel yelled as Elena and Harry glanced around the room looking for the voice they had just heard before they hesitantly walked toward the professor to stand in front of the mirror of Erised. "Tell me what do you two see?" Quirrel questioned as Harry and Elena stared back at their own reflections.

Elena watched herself smile cockingly at herself as she pulled a red ruby out of her jacket pocket she saw Harry's reflection smirk at her as she tossed the rock in her hand playfully before she threw it to him and Harry winked at himself as he slid the Stone into his trouser's pocket. Harry stared back at himself in disbelief as his hand subtly checked his pocket making his eyes go wide in utter shock when his fingers hit against the smooth surface of the stone.

"What is it? What do you see?" Quirrel yelled glancing in between them.

"I'm shaking hands with Dumbledore I've won the house cup" Harry stuttered out nervously.

"What about you?" Quirrel questioned glaring at Elena.

"I'm Head girl and my dad's there smiling saying he's proud of me" Elena lied.

"They lie"

"TELL THE TRUTH WHAT DO YOU SEE?!" Quirrel yelled at them.

"Let me speak to them"

"But master you are not strong enough," Quirrel said worry in his tone.

"I have strength enough for this"

Elena quickly pulled Harry back up the last two steps as Quirrel carefully unwrapped his turban revealing a distorted and ill-looking face, Voldemort stretched his head out of Quirrel's to stare up at the two.

"Harry Potter, Eileen Snape we meet again" Voldemort hissed.

"I presume you're Voldemort" Elena nervously greeted.

"Voldemort" Harry stared at the man.

"Yes, you see what I've become, see what I must do to survive live of another be a parasite, unicorn blood can sustain me but it cannot give me a body of my own" Voldemort explained.

"Thank God for that" Elena muttered.

"But there is something that can, something that conveniently enough lies in your pocket" Voldemort hissed.

"Okay, time to go," Elena said as she and Harry ran back up the stairs.

"STOP THEM!" Voldemort yelled his voice strained as Quirrel snapped his fingers surrounding the room in a ring of fire cutting them off from retreating to safety.

"What do we do?" Harry asked his eyes darting around the place.

"Working on it" Elena assured.

"Don't be fools," Voldemort said making Elena and Harry reluctantly turn back around to face him again. "Why suffer a horrific death when you can join me and live-"

"NEVER!" Harry yelled at him.

"Nope don't like that option is there another one?" Elena asked as her brain tried to find an escape plan.

"Bravery" Voldemort laughed. "Your parents had it too tell me Harry would you like to see your mother and father again, Eileen would you like to see your mother again together we can bring them back all I ask is for something in return," Voldemort said as Harry pulled the Stone out of his pocket, "that's it Harry, there is no good and evil there is only power and those too weak to seek it together we'll do extraordinary things just give me the Stone" Voldemort hissed.

"I already do extraordinary things, thank you very much" Elena commented before turning back to Harry, "Harry I know how much you want to see your parents again, I know how much I want to see our mom, but bringing the dead back always has a price and sometimes as much as we'd like to think it, it's not worth it" Harry glanced over at Voldemort as the image of his parents slowly faded away indicating the Dark Lord was lying and trying to manipulate them.

"NEVER! YOU LIAR!" Harry yelled.

"KILL HIM!" Voldemort roared making Quirrel fly through the air his hand wrapped tightly around Harry's throat as he shoved him onto the ground making the Stone slide just out of reach.

Elena ran up to the two as she tried to rip Quirrel off of Harry but instead as soon as she touched the man his hand disintegrated instantly turning into brittle stone making Quirrel stumble backward yelling in agony.

"What did you do?" Harry asked glancing up at his sister who was wearily inspecting her hands from top to bottom.

"I-I don't know" Elena admitted.

"What is this magic?" Quirrel cried as his hand fell to dust.

"FOOL, GET THE STONE!" Voldemort yelled making Quirrel reluctantly race forward before both Harry and Elena ran up to him placing their hands over his head and watching as both Quirrel and Voldemort broke out into gray cracks before a wind swept through the room making their faces turn to dust while the rest of his body fell limp to the floor.

"I'm not sure if I'm scared or intrigued by whatever just happened," Elena said staring down at her hands as Harry nodded in agreement his eyes wide in shock.

"The Stone" Harry whispered as he reached over the step and grabbed the red ruby before a shrieking sounded throughout the room and Voldemort's now traveling soul ripped right through them making Elena and Harry fall to the ground unconscious.
