Butterflies

Even after all these years

I still feel those butterflies start to dance

You send me farther than anybody else dared

I can hear my heart pounding

I can feel my throat go dry

As soon as you waltz into my room

I get this feeling down deep inside

I don't want this to be a love song

I didn't mean for us to be like this

But maybe romanticizing us

Will make the ending less painful

Everyone knows it's coming

I can feel the air around me chill

You know I can't stand to be without you

But I can't stand it anymore

The butterflies turn into tiny wrecking balls

Slowly shattering my heart

Shaking me to the core

Gnawing at my lungs

Slowly crushing my will

Suddenly it's you

Suddenly the pain disappears

It's as if you have a magic touch

How can someone in so much pain

Turn all the pain they give someone else

Into the feeling of ecstasy

I would gladly drown in you

If only for a minute my dear

See I'd rather have you here

Than see you walk away
