Stormchaser pushed forward, every breath raspy and shaky. She turned her head to look at Shadow Leap and Shadow Leap bared his teeth at her. She leaped backwards a bit and nearly knocked Gray Smoke over. However Gray Smoke didn't seem angry. He just looked up to Stormchaser and shot her a wary smile.
"This way," murmured Misty Meadow as she pushed through some undergrowth. "It's a bit of a tangled mess but don't worry. It protects out pack but you have scales, not fur. It won't tug as much."
Stormchaser nodded as she padded into the tangle of vines as they grasped at her back. She saw some thorns become tangled in Gray Smoke's pelt and he growled in anger. Stormchaser pushed her head forward and pushed him forward gingerly with her muzzle. "There you go."
"Thank you," breathed Gray Smoke as he pushed forward.
Shadow Leap shot him an angry growl but Stormchaser ignored her. She hadn't hurt Gray Smoke. If anything she had helped him. If Shadow Leap wanted to think of her as a threat go ahead. She may not have been big enough to take him on but one day she'd be as large as her mother and no one would threaten her.
"If I were you I'd stay close to me," urged Misty Meadow as she stretched out her tail and touched it gingerly to Stormchaser's ear. "The pack is very angry at any dragon right now. Just don't answer any of their questions. You only have to answer Alpha's questions."
Stormchaser nodded slowly. "No one will try to attack me, right?"
"Just stay in line Night Fury and no harm will come to you," snarled Shadow Leap as he leaped over Stormchaser and veered toward a large opening in the ground.
"Don't listen to him," whispered Gray Smoke in Stormchaser's ear. "He always acts like he has burrs in his pelt!" He turned his nose a bit in disgust before he pushed himself into the opening in the ground, grunting madly.
Misty Meadow waved a paw forward. "After you. Don't worry this isn't a trap," she assured with a smile.
Stormchaser took in a breath and her chest puffed out a bit. She surged forward and into the opening of the ground. She nearly got stuck but she continued pushing herself and with a little help from Misty Meadow she emerged, her tail lashing. Misty Meadow followed and shook her pelt from the debris.
"Now keep close." Misty Meadow pushed forward as her fur puffed outward. "Now welcome to our camp!"
Stormchaser looked past Misty Meadow and saw a group of wolves clustered around. Some were eating prey and some were playing together, mainly the young ones.
However at the front of the pack stood a large dark gray and black male wolf with a thick tail and muscular shoulders. His eyes showed intelligence but also grief for his fallen packmate. He sat down and wrapped his tail around his paws and looked down, allowing his pack to assess her.
"What's she doing here," spat a light brown tabby tom male with blazing eyes.
"Easy Trout Fin," whispered a beautiful light gray she-cat as she pressed against the tom. "She has as much right to be here as you do. Plus we don't know if she did it. Keep yourself calm."
Trout Fin hung his head and sighed heavily. "Yes Dream Berry but if she confesses then I'll allow my claws to pierce her flesh!"
Stormchaser shuffled against Gray Smoke and almost pushed him over by accident. Gray Smoke was about to say something before a silky furred crimson she-wolf waved her tail. He let a small squeak raise in his voice as he darted to her and touched his nose to hers. Stormchaser watched them head off, cuffing each others ear and laughing as they did so.
"That's Gray Smoke's sister Morning Sun," whispered Misty Meadow in Stormchaser's ear. "They're very close. Just like you and you'd brother I say."
