Moons passed, a lot of moons and Stormchaser still hadn't seen her brother or Skypacer. She longed to see them but she was also settling into her new life, a life with her mate and daughter. She also couldn't forget Russet Feather. She had become a major help.
Stormchaser had become accustomed to looking at the sky and waiting for her brother to return or at least to see him. However all she got was disappointment.
"Mama come play with me," begged Lightningflash as she reared on her puny hind legs and battered her front paws against her mother's chest. "Please?"
Stormchaser turned her head to her daughter. "Where is your father," she asked as she rose to her paws and towered over her daughter.
Lightningflash flicked her tail. "He's out hunting with Russet Feather," she answered before she wove around her mother's legs. "Now can we please play?"
Stormchaser let out a snort of amusement. "What do you want to play?"
Her daughter thought for a heartbeat before she leaped onto her mother's shoulders and began to pummel her with paw strikes. "Let's wrestle and fight like how real Night Furies fight!"
Stormchaser reared on her hind legs and Lightningflash rolled down her back before she landed harshly on the ground. "Then let's see what ya got Lightningflash," Stormchaser teased as she turned on her daughter with her tail kinked over her back. "Come at me."
Lightingflash obeyed and surged forward her mother. However she was young and very small. Stormchaser had to be careful not to hurt her. She darted toward and Stormchaser swiped her away gingerly. Lightningflash didn't give up so she charged at Stormchaser again and leaped onto her mother's back, her claws curling into Stormchaser's scales.
Stormchaser lifted her tail under her daughter and flicked her backwards so that she landed on her underbelly. She let out a deep breath. "Time out," she begged as she lifted her two front paws and sighed heavily.
Stormchaser rumbled in amusement and strode toward her, pushing her head against her daughter's haunch. Lightningflash pushed herself to her own paws and gave herself a firm shake. "You're done already," asked Stormchaser in amusement.
Lightningflash groaned before she pushed her paw against her mother's head. "It's hard," she complained with narrowed eyes. "And I'm hungry."
"I can fix that."
Lightningflash turned her head and smiled broadly at Thunderheart as he pushed forward with a few fish in his jaws while Russet Feather trailed with a rabbit in her jaws. Lightningflash darted toward her father and pushed his head into Thunderheart's chest affectionately. "Daddy!"
Thunderheart dropped the fish and steered Lightningflash toward it. "Here you go little one. Have some of the fish."
Lightningflash's mouth watered and she lowered down and began to tear into one of the fish. Russet Feather dropped her rabbit and Lighningflash turned to it. She sniffed at the rabbit before she sunk her fangs into it and tore the stomach open. She ate the flesh and finished it quickly. She sat back on her haunches and looked up to Stormchaser, frowning.
"What's wrong sweet fangs," asked Stormchaser as she draped her wing around her daughter.
Lightningflaash shook herself away from her mother. "I'm still hungry," she grumbled as she looked down at her stomach and growled tersely.
"Have some fish," offered Thunderheart as he pushed a full sized trout at his daughter. "It's really tasty, you know that."
Lightningflash nudged the fish back toward her father. "I like Russet Feather's rabbit," she explained as she looked at the bones that lay at her paws. "Could I have another one please?"
