Unlikely Pairing

Flashback

(Purgatory's P.O.V)

This idiot really needs to stop following me everywhere. If any of these lowlifes had the same hearing abilities I do, they would also hear the annoyance of his wings and be able to tell that the number 2 hero is on his way here. Lucky for them, he's not coming for them, but for me.

He makes his landing on the roof with me, but he's quiet since he's trying to sneak up on me as usual, even if that doesn't work.

I sigh and say, "What do you want Hawks."

"Dang", he says, "I wanted to surprise you kitten."

I turn to him and say, "I told you not to call me that, now what do you want?"

"Aww, can't I just perch up here with you", he says as he get closer to me and spread his wings so that they're almost around me

"You know very well that I do stealth missions, and I don't need your flashy wings up here", I say as I smack his wings away.

He grunts at the touch and says, "Careful with those claws kitten, you know how sensitive my wings are."

"Again, stop calling me that, and if they were that sensitive then you wouldn't be trying to wrap them around me", I say and turn back around to continue watching my target, "Now leave me alone. Some of us have to work."

Instead of leaving though, he get right behind me and puts his chin on my shoulder and says, "Who's your target this time kid?"

"Don't call me that either, get off of me, and it's no of your business", I say.

He gets off and leans on the side of the building, "Oh come on kid", he says, "I'm a pro hero too and I could help you."

"Oh please", I say, "Help me or help yourself like you did last time and make me a running joke again?"

"I was mistaken", he says, "I honestly though you were one of them."

"You're just lucky that I knew who you were and didn't use my quirk on you instead", I say.

---flash back---

(Hawks P.O.V)

From the information I got, this is the apartment of a cloaked assassin who's been breaking into people's homes and killing them with his claws then ransacking the place. I'm not sure how strong he'll be, but there's no way I'll this murderous cat burglar get away.  

I wait until the moment I see him through the window then use some of my feathers to break the window and pin this bitch to the wall. After that, I swoop in and hold this guys wrist's down so that he can't use his claws to break free.

"Got you know asshole", I say, "There's no way you're gonna get away from me you cat burglar."

"What the hell Hawks", he says in a very feminine voice, "Let me go!"

I laugh then say, "You think I'd just let you go just like that? Monsters like you should be dead."

"You don't understand", he says, "I'm a hero too."

"You call murdering countless families and stealing their things being a hero", I say, "You're more sick and twisted than I though."

"Hawks what the hell are you doing", says Mirko as she comes through the door.

"I caught the crazy cat burglar like we were supposed to do", I say.

"No you didn't", says Mirko and I turn to look at her confused, "What you did was break another hero's cover."

I look back at the person I'm pinning down and take off their hood to reveal a woman with jet black hair, brown eyes, and cat ears. "What the hell", I say as she pushes me off of her. 

"Purgatory, I'm so sorry", says Mirko, "Hawks is just a dumbass sometimes."

"Mirko I told you this was the one time I would work with you to see how things went", says Purgatory beyond pissed, "Now because of this asshole, the guy I've been chasing for us got away."

"We'll get him", says Mirko, "We know where he's going if he's not here anymore."

"Then good luck chasing him", Purgatory says then walks towards the door, "I'm done helping you."

"Purgatory, can't we talk about this", Mirko says.

"No", she says, "You knew I preferred working alone and you brought this idiot with you. I'm done", she then throws down a smoke bomb and she's gone.

"Ok", I say, "Who the hell was that?"

"That was the best spy hero we had", Mirko says, "And thanks to you, she'll probably never work with another hero again."

"How was I supposed to know that", I say.

"If you read the damn case file like you were supposed to, you would know that she was the source for our info and that she'd be located in the apartment above the person we're going after", she says now also getting pissed.

"I'm sorry", I say, "I'm sure she'll work with us again after she cools down."

"No she won't", she says, "She's basically a one woman army who can disappear in the blink of an eye. She doesn't need us, we need her."

"If she's that powerful", I say, "Why didn't she use her power on me or to catch this villain on her own?"

"If she had used her power on you, you would've been dead", she says, "And she didn't go after the villain because she was only doing a favor for ME!"

"Shit, well I'm sorry", I say.

"Whatever", she says, "Lets just go. At least thanks to her we know where to go next", then walks out the door.

As I walk out the door after her, I hear an officer joking to the side, "Did you hear that he called her a cat burglar?"

The second officer then laughs and says, "Yeah, well it's fitting for what she looked like."

As I walk away, I can still hear them laughing and teasing her. I can't even bring myself to say anything to them since I did that to her.

---Back to the present---

(Purgatory's P.O.V)

"How many times do I have to apologize for you to believe how sorry I am", he says.

"I already accepted the apology bird brain", I say, "I'm just not planning to work with any of your type of heroes ever again."

"But kitty", he starts to say before he's interrupted.

"Hey, who's up there", we hear someone say from below.

"Shit, see what you did now", I say.

"Well, I guess it's you who needs my help now", he says and before I can say or do anything, he picks me up bridle style and flies us off the roof and into the sky. Too far for anyone to see.

"See", he says, "What would you have done if I wasn't here?"

"P-probably n-not in th-the air f-freazing m-my a-ass o-off", I say shivering.

"Oh shit", he says then he holds me close and flies me home.

Once there, we land on my balcony and covers me with his jacket, "I'm sorry Nekuro", he says looking like he's actually feeling bad again, "I just seem to be a mess when I'm around you."

"Keigo you're a mess even when you're not around me", I say and he lets out a laugh which makes me laugh a little too. 

"If you want", I say trying to be nice, "You can come inside and warm up a little too."

"A-are you sure", he asks.

"If you want your jacket back then we'll both need to warm up", I say as I slide open my balcony door.

"W-well I was gonna let you keep it actually", he says.

I turn away to try and hide a small blush then say, "Keigo just get inside before I change my mind."

"Yes ma'am", he says then follows me inside.
