Unlikely Pairing

Her first hero

(Hawks's P.O.V)

A few hours later, he finally gets here. The retired Symbol of Peace.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the guy, he was a great hero. I just can't believe he never reached out to her.

"Hello everyone", he says as he walks in, "So this is the child I saved so many years ago."

"Do you remember her All Might", asks Midoriya.

"How could I forget", he says, "They wanted to execute the poor girl just for protecting herself."

"Seriously", says Kirishima, "That's messed up."

"Sadly that's how the government is over there", he says, "If they find someone with power who they can't control, they will try to get rid of them. Especially if they're from another country."

"So what took you so long to find her and make sure she was alright", I say, "How did you know they wouldn't try to come get her while you weren't there?"

"Believe me", he says, "I never stopped looking for her, but the American government sealed her records to make sure she never existed, and, once she came here, her name was changed and I was never told what it was."

"What was her name back then", asks Midoriya.

"The same name that she uses for her quirk", he says, "They called her 'Santa Muerte' so much that she believed that was her name."

"Wait, doesn't 'Muerte' mean Death" asks Uraraka.

"Yes", says All Might, "They basically called her the 'Patron Saint of Death' because the people who saw her knew they were about to die."

The room stays quiet for a second then Nekuro starts talking in her sleep. Even thought we can't understand what she's saying, she sound like she's in pain.

"Please All Might", I say, "Even though you don't owe me any favors, please help us bringing Nekuro back."

"I'll help" he says, "But I'm not sure what I can do since I can no longer hold that figure for more than a second."

"Maybe just hearing your voice will help", says Midoriya, "Since she's still asleep, she could that memory while she's dreaming."

"Ok, I'll give it a try", he says then walks over to her side.

He sits down and starts speaking directly to Nekuro, "It's ok sweetie. No one is going to hurt you anymore because I am here."

Once All Might speaks to her, her facial expression changes from being in pain, back to sleeping peacefully.

"It worked", I say, "She's not in pain anymore."

"All Might that was amazing", says Midoriya.

"All I did is talk to her", he says.

"Still", I say, "Because of you, she's no longer in pain. So, if there's anything I can ever do for you, please let me know."

"There's no need for that Hawks", he says, "The fact that I'm able to see the first child I saved so many years ago is enough for me. Just promise that you'll keep her safe from now on."

"I promise", I say, "She is my world and I made an oath to protect it when I became a hero."

"Good", he says, "Because I know a few people who would take you out of you didn't", then looks at the kids.

Shinso jus smiles while the other three laugh nervously, so I laugh too, "I know", I say, "But I'm not about to let that happen."

"That's a relief", says Midoriya, "Cause I don't think I could fight you."

"Don't be scared kid", says Mirko, "The big softy over there wouldn't lay a feather on you."

"Mirko shut up", I say.

"Am I lying", she says.

"No", I say, "But they don't need to know that."

They all laugh.

"Alright kids", says Aizawa, "Even though she's still asleep, we should probably let her rest so let's go get some lunch and come back later."

"Are we gonna have to go back to class", asks Uraraka.

"Yeah, because we want to stay here with Miss. Hoshi", says Kirishima.

"No", says Aizawa, "You four were excused until Miss. Hoshi got better."

"I don't want to be 'that kid' either", says Kirishima, "But what about our school work?"

"We'll deal with that when we get back", says Aizawa, "But I can't force you to stay either. If you want to go back to class, feel free to do so."

"No", says Uraraka, "I wanna be here to see Miss. Hoshi wake up as herself again. If I have to play catch-up when we go back to class then so be it."

"Yeah", says Kirishima, "We may have only known Miss. Hoshi for a few days, but we want to be here for her."

"Even if I just got moved up to Class 1A", says Shinso, "If it hadn't been for the training I got from Miss. Hoshi, I don't feel like I would've deserved to be in this class."

"Miss. Hoshi is an amazing hero", says Midoriya, "So I would never forgive myself if I wasn't here when she got better."

For the first time since we've been in the hospital, I see Aizawa smile.

"Ok then", he says, "All Might, you should come with us too. That way I can tell you more about what she's gone through after you brought her home."

"Thank you Aizawa", he says and follows them out.

"Since I know you're not leaving her side anytime soon", says Mirko, "Let me guess, you want chicken nuggets."

I laugh and say, "I'm not actually hungry, but thank you for offering."

"I'm still bringing you some anyway", she says, "You'll need to keep your strength up if you want to be ready when she wakes up."

"Fine", I say with a smile, "Thank you."

"Don't mention it", she says, "I'll be back soon", then leaves the room as well.

Now it's just Nekuro and I left in her room.

She looks so peaceful when she's sleeping that it doesn't even seem like there's anything wrong with her.

I lean in and kiss her forehead then whisper to her, "Don't worry Princess. Everyone who loves and cares about you is here with you, and we're not leaving your side anytime soon. Especially not me."
