[Jayy's POV]
It's been about two months since I was dumped by that asshole, and now it's summer. School finally ended, and you don't know how happy me and Perrie are. That means more time to spend together, and more fun for us. No waking up at five AM just to walk to school together and leaving at four to hang out at Target.
Speaking of Target, my mom was driving me and Perrie there right now. I knew Perrie was esctatic, since we would literally race to the toy section while my mom shopped for whatever.
Perrie moved her hair back from her face, revealing her flawless cheekbones, eyes, and lips. She covered her mouth as she smiled, hating her smile. But I loved it. It was beautiful. Just like her.
Mom pulled up at Walmart, parking the car. I and Perrie hooked arms, departing with my mom at the front door. She said to meet back there at 2:00. We agreed, and I jumped in a shopping cart. Perrie giggled, pushing me across the floor .
People gave us dirty looks, but I only smirked and Perrie raised her eyebrow at them. I love how she didn't care what they thought, even when she readjusted her bra in front of little kids and yell "Fuck" and "Shit" every two seconds. It was a sight to see. While I just sat in the cart, letting her drive me around, with a mask on.
Perrie got out her phone, and pointed it at me, "Say cheese!"
I did a pose and the camera flashed. I laughed, looking at the picture. She put it as her wallpaper, and I felt happy. Perrie opened a new message, and a few seconds later, my phone beeped.I pulled it out, seeing the same picture. I smiled, looking up at Perrie who was staring at the cosmetics. She reached for an eyeliner stick, looking at the price tag and the brand. She threw it at me, making me flinch. I gaped at her, a fake glare playing in my eyes.
"You threw that at me," I pouted, crossing my arms
"Oh, I'm sorry." Perrie replied, smirking
"You're mean," I replied, sticking my nose in the air
"You love me," Perrie retorted, holding a pack of mascara, "You want anything?" She asked, cocking an eyebrow
"Yeah, some eyeliner," I reply, catching the flying stick this time.
Perrie giggled, pushing the cart towards the music section. Our eyes widened with glee, and she raced over, dodging shoppers and objects. We parked it in front of the "ROCK/RAP" section, glancing at the many albums covering the shelves. Perrie groaned, and I looked over at her in curiousity.
She pointed to an album, and I scowled. It was Taylor Swift's self-titled album. What the hell is it doing in the Rock section?!
"What the hell?!" Perrie said, reading my thoughts"Kill it before it breeds!" I yell, and she pushed us towards the kid section
I reached for a life-saber, pointing it at Perrie, "You do what I say," I said
"Girl bye. You listen to me," Perrie retorted, throwing a bouncy ball at me
"BALLS," I screamed
Perrie's eyes widened, and we burst out laughing. I collapsed over in the cart, and Perrie held onto the handle to keep from falling.Perrie's face was red as a cherry when she finally stopped, and I bet my cheeks were flushed. My stomach hurt, my ribs aching from how badly I was laughing.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't the fag?" Someone said from behind me, and I froze, tension filling the air
Perrie's eyes flashed with pure anger, and I was scared to turn around. She heard me whimper, and her eyes moved to me. She sent me the "Don't you dare look behind you," look, glancing back at whoever was behind me.
"Go away and leave us alone," Perrie said through gritted teeth
"Why should we? Why are you defending the little shit?" The guy growled
I gasped. It was just like what happened to me before. When I met Perrie. When she saved me.
She growled, letting go of the handles and walking slowly behind me. That's when I turned around, and my eyes filled with horror. Adam and his goons were standing there, glaring at Perrie.
"Why am I defending him?! WHY?! BECAUSE HE'S MY BEST FRIEND! I LOVE HIM! YOU WILL NOT HURT HIM!" Perrie screamed in his face, my heart briefly stopping
I was taken aback, and so was the boys. But Adam stayed neutral, screaming back, "YOU DON'T LOVE HIM! YOU DON'T EVEN CARE ABOUT HIM! YOU TOLD ME YOURSELF!"
She gaped at him in disbelief.
I gasped, my hand flying to my mouth. I felt the tears fill my eyes, and I wanted to sob. Perrie told Adam she never cared about me? No, she couldn't have. She's been so amazing to me since the incident. She couldn't be faking it for pity.
Perrie turned and looked at me, tears in her eyes. She shook her head, "I never said that, Adam. Jayy is my best friend. I'd do anything for him. I love him to death. I'll protect him until I die. No matter what," She said, her eyes drifting to mine
A tear fell, and she smiled at me. I KNEW she meant it. She turned back to Adam, glaring, "You want him, you have to go through me,"
Then I realized what she was doing. Putting herself in harms way. For me. No.
I jumped out of the cart, pushing Perrie behind me, "You leave her alone, Adam," I growled. She touched my arm comfortingly, her eyes on me.
Adam snickered, "Or what? What could a faggot like you do?"
I felt Perrie tense, and grabbed her hand, "I don't know, kick your ass," I replied, acting stupid
Adam smirked, "You? Kick MY ass? You're out of your mind,"
I then did something I never suspected. I swung. And nailed Adam in the nose. I heard a snap, and knew it was broken. It felt good, until he punched me back. I almost fell, but stood my ground. I tackled him, punching him repeatedly.
"THIS...IS...FOR...ALL...THOSE...TIMES...YOU...HURT...ME!" I screamed after every punch, tears rolling down my cheeksAdam's face was covered in scars and blood now, and I heard a girl shriek. I turned, and saw one of Adam's goons swinging at Perrie. I growled, running towards him. But I was too late. His fist connected with her cheek, and she collapsed to the ground with a scream. I stopped, gasping.
Adam and his goons left, leaving me in the middle of a kids aisle, Perrie on the ground. I dropped to my knees, staring at Perrie. She was unconciscous, and her eye was beginning to bruise. I noticed a cut on her lip, and moved her hair from her face. She was bleeding, a dribble of blood falling down her chin.
"Oh Pez...I'm so sorry...I tried to protect you...but I failed...I'm a failure," I said, starting to sob, taking out my phone and calling 911.
I cradled her in my arms, waiting for my Mom and the paramedics to come. People crowded around, but I ignored them. All that mattered was Perrie. And how I'm the reason she's unconciscous with a bruised face.[Perrie's POV
It all happened too fast.
He threw his fist towards me, and I screamed. Jayy whipped around, watching in horror. He ran towards us, trying to stop him. But he was too late. The guys fist connected with my face, sending me screaming and onto the ground. I was out cold the moment my back hit the cold floor.
I heard a gasp, and footsteps scurring away. A thump was heard, and I heard crying, "Oh Pez...I'm so sorry...I tried to protect you...but I failed...I'm a failure," Jayy said
He cradled me in his arms, calling 911. He was sobbing the entire time, holding me tightly.
Jayy, you tried to protect me. That means alot. Just because you couldn't stop him, doesn't matter.God Jayy. I fucking love you.
