Katniss' POV:
My name is Katniss Everdeen. I am sixteen years old and I live with my mum, step-dad and little sister Prim. My stepdad is Plutarch, the new head teacher at the school I'm starting at in two days.
My dad died when he was caving, six years ago. My mum stopped talking a even moving for over a year, until she met Plutarch, when pretty much all of her happiness came back to her. I kind of hated her for shutting out from the world, leaving me to fend for me and twelve-year-old Prim.
We used to live the Seam, one of the poorer parts of District Twelve. But once Plutarch married my mum we moved nearer to the main part of our town, where all of the medium sized houses are. But now we're moving to an eve bigger house, where the mansions are. All because Plutarch is going to be the head teacher of the better high school. He gets better pay so we can have a better house.
So now all I need to worry about is making friends, because I didn't have any at all before.
Only a few more days to go.
