Returning to his office at eleven, Dolly's boss talks to her about staying the extra weeks to help with this new initiative. If she would, Dolly would get a leaving bonus of three month's salary. And the final two weeks or such, Dolly will be working for Mona directly.
He has Dolly go and talk with Mona, who tells her about the plan and the schedule she has made for them.
Dolly is hesitant at first, but Mona calms and assures her that this would be the best way for the next month. While no one could know about them, they could gradually get to the new place they have discovered together.
And Mona tells Dolly, think of the extra money you will have, to give you a buffer as you clear up your debts.
It all sounds desirable to Dolly, but she so wants her life as Mona's baby girl to begin.
Mona reaches her hand across her desk and pats Dolly's hand. The first physical contact they have had since arriving at work. It sends sparkles through them both.
