Fortunately, Hanbin did well his first day back to school and the following days afterwards. Unfortunately, he didn't talk to any of the kids or the guidance counsellor who he had to go to every day after lunch just before recess. He had told his psychiatrist that he either stayed in his guidance counsellor's office or in the bathroom during the recess. But besides that, adjusting to school life went well for Hanbin, he only had one panic attack and that was on his second day after having to go to an assembly.

However, something still didn't sit well with Jungkook. Maybe it was the fact that Hanbin's doctor's definition of improvement and his definition were different. Hanbin's doctor was happy with just the fact that Hanbin could sit in a desk that was just a bit spaced out from all the other desks and not freak out. But that wasn't working for Jungkook. He wanted his son to people, maybe not him, but someone. He wasn't talking to the guidance counsellor, the teachers, the students, no one. He would only talk Chanwoo and his psychiatrist and that was only on a good day, usually, it was just Chanwoo.

Jungkook had thought that surrounding Hanbin with kids his age would help him open up but he was unsurprisingly wrong as Hanbin didn't even talk to Minjae or Taehyung's daughters. He just wanted his son to have someone else to confide in rather than his three-year-old brother who got distracted by dust and a doctor who got paid to care and since clearly, Hanbin didn't trust him, he had to find someone — or something — else.

So Jungkook finally decided to ask Hanbin's doctor about getting him a dog for emotional support. His doctor thought it was a great idea and thought it was stupid of himself to not suggest it beforehand. His doctor had said that getting him a dog could possibly be the thing Hanbin needed towards his recovery but he also told Jungkook not to get his hopes up and not to think that Hanbin will warm up to him again. He advised Jungkook not to use the dog as a bribe and that it may be hard to explain to Chanwoo that the dog is for Hanbin and not for him.

Shamefully, Jungkook hadn't thought about that. He had completely forgotten to take into consideration how Chanwoo might react to Hanbin getting a pet and not him. He would hope that Hanbin would share with Chanwoo but then again, the dog would be just Hanbin's as the purpose of the dog was to help the seven-year-old.

He wasn't going to buy two dogs especially since Chanwoo was only three — turning four.

His boys barely ever got jealous of each other but he knew for a fact that Chanwoo would probably throw a tantrum when he sees his older brother get a dog.

He looked up at Hanbin who was quietly colouring on the far end of the bar.

They were at Taehyung's house. It was Saturday so none of the kids had school. Taeji had her friends over and they were upstairs in her room and Yunah was teaching Chanwoo how to make purple — Jungkook had told them countless times to keep the painting supplies off the carpet but somehow it always ended up on the carpet and he could only hope that the paint wouldn't get on Taehyung's carpet. Junkook had just finished cleaning so he was sitting at the bar, looking for dogs that were being given away along with animal shelter websites.

He had specific wants and needs for the dog in question. Obviously, he was trying to surprise his son so he couldn't ask Hanbin what kind of dog he wanted but he wanted a puppy just in case Hanbin was scared of big dogs and so Hanbin could have something to grow alongside him and he wanted the puppy to be easy to train. He was looking for dogs like a Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, Papillon, Border Collie, German Shepherd and so on. But Labrador Retrievers, Border Collies, and Corgis came on top for best emotional support dogs so they were at the top of his list.
