It's been almost a month since Jungkook began working for the Kim Taehyung and it's been...something. He assumed that thanks to the experience of being on his feet for several hours at a time, the cleaning part of the job would be easy but he was unfortunately proven wrong when he woke up the next day from his first day with an intensely sore body. All that bending, leaning, and stretching that came with cleaning was to blame. Getting used to the sudden schedule change was also kind of hard as he was now working for twelve hours instead roughly 6-8 hours and he was used to usually starting his day by getting up six to drop Hanbin off at school, go back home, sleep until nine or so, get back up, getting Chanwoo ready to go to his sitter's house, and then go to work. However, this time it was get up, take Hanbin to school, take Chanwoo to his sitter, then head straight to work. He eventually got used to it, but it was hard at first.
Another thing Jungkook found hard to get used to was Taeji. Chanwoo was naturally a brat but even he wasn't as bad as this seven-year-old girl who would throw a fit over the smallest things. It's only been a month and he's already received his first strike from Taehyung just because Taeji wanted to watch TV instead of doing her homework. He had taken the remote from her and snapped at her and she cried to Taehyung the first second he arrived from work. But that didn't even make him as mad as when she blatantly bullies his son. Jungkook had made the mistake of complaining to Taehyung about his daughter's disrespect, but Taehyung expressed his disinterest in the topic by pushing Jungkook out of his office and slamming the door to the boy's face. Jungkook tried his hardest to work past Taeji's brattiness, he tried to adjust around the evil little girl by doing everything she wanted the way she wanted but she was barely ever satisfied. He was terrified to meet Taehyung's younger daughter. Luckily, Namjoon and Jimin started watching Hanbin more since Jungkook didn't like him being around Taeji. So it was only he who had to suffer.
Besides the caretaking part, the job itself wasn't too bad. He hasn't had to stay over yet but Taehyung had notified him that his new clothing line will be launched soon and he may be staying over for a while. When Jungkook received his first payment he was shocked to see the stack of green sitting right by his nametag he was required to wear so no one would mistake him as some intruder. Taehyung had written that it was exactly $545,000 and have even given the young man a mint. A mint. Jungkook almost threw up as the sum of cash in his hands overwhelmed him greatly.
He didn't go crazy with it like most people would but instead put $500 into his checking account, the same amount into his savings, and had even started Hanbin and Chanwoo's individual college savings account. This left him with plenty but he still decided to save it and wait for his next payment so he could start looking for a house. He didn't alert his landlord yet as he didn't want to rush into things but he was excited, to say the least. He had also gone to Hanbin's school and took Hanbin off the free-lunch list and had put money in his account. Of course, that wouldn't decrease all the bullying as they still made fun of him for his stuttering but Jungkook planned to move him out of that school anyway once he gets settled in a new place. A place way better than his trashy apartment.
Currently, Jungkook was wiping down the counter island after Chanwoo accidentally spilt the milkshake Jimin had bought for him. Jimin was keeping Chanwoo when he texted Jungkook that had forgotten all about a client until his reminder went off so he had brought Chanwoo to the Kim residence.
"Sowwy, Daddy," Chanwoo said as Jungkook grabbed his face to clean it.
"It's okay-" Jungkook was cut off when he saw someone walk into the kitchen. His eyes landed on Taehyung who greeted him with a simple nod and made his way to his refrigerator. Jungkook returned the gesture before looking back at Chanwoo.
"Here, use the straw it's less messy that way," he said as he put the lid to the Cook-Out cup back on and stabbed the straw through it. Chanwoo nodded, grabbing the cup from Jungkook and quickly drinking it as though he's never tasted it before. Jungkook smiled at him before grabbing the dirty towel and telling Chanwoo he'd be back. He walked to the laundry room and dropped the tall in the coloured clothes basket before checking the time on the washing machine for his white clothes and walking back to the kitchen.
Taehyung was leaning against the refrigerator with a cup of ice in his hands, silently chomping on it. Jungkook was used to seeing him wearing suits or something of the sort but today he was clad in a white T-shirt with his own brand name engraved on the breast pocket and a pair of black pants and sandals. Jungkook was confused as to why he looked so comfortable today since he said he working hard on launching his newest line.
"Your children are very well-behaved," he suddenly said, catching Jungkook off guard and causing him to drop his napkin.
"U-Uh thank you," Jungkook replied quickly. "I-I thought you weren't going to be here today...?"
"I have an assistant for a reason," the older male replied with a bit of a tone that told Jungkook he should just shut up and let go of small talk.
Silence filled the room and Jungkook was about to leave again before Taehyung spoke up,
"My youngest daughter is coming over today," he said, "I expect you remember everything, yes?"
Jungkook's eyes widened and he looked down at the table as he tried to remember the paper Taehyung had given him. All he remembered was everything about Taeji, she had ballet, and she couldn't have nuts.
"Art class, no nuts, no shellfish," Taehyung said.
"Right, I'll remember that," Jungkook said with a nod, "sorry."
"She'll be here after her art class and she's staying the rest of the week," Taehyung said and with that, he turned and walked out of the kitchen.
'Oh God help me, if she's anything like Taeji...'

Kim Yunah is an absolute angel. Today Taeji didn't have ballet practice so they went straight to the Kim residence and arrived the exact time when Yunah's mother arrived. He didn't see the woman but he did hear her yelling at Yunah, telling her to get out of the car. Taeji had shoved her backpack into Jungkook's arms and ran towards her younger half-sister before engulfing her in a hug and dragging her inside.
Jungkook had expected the five-year-old to be snotty and annoying just like Taeji but he was pleasantly proven wrong when she greeted Jungkook with a respectful bow and had even done so to his two sons. She had introduced herself and Jungkook began wondering if Taeji was actually five and Yunah was seven.
This made the caretaking part of his job more delightful. Yunah would even help him when she could and she was beyond kind to Chanwoo and Hanbin, even teaching Hanbin how to paint. She was the complete opposite of Taeji and Jungkook loved it.
"We'll see you later, say bye Chan and Bin," Jungkook said, waving to the two girls. Yunah stood on her tiptoes and waved but Taeji just turned around and began walking away. Hanbin waved back and Chanwoo hung himself out of Jungkook's arms and screamed out a big, "BYE!" before pointing at the driveway and telling Jungkook to "go".
As Jungkook turned around and closed the door, he heard Yunah yell at her sister,
"I really like him!"
And that made Jungkook's heart do a little spin.
