Chapter Sixteen

"I-I d-d-don't w-w-wanna...g-go!" Hanbin cried, clinging to Jungkook's leg and getting his grey sweatpants wet with his tears. Jungkook sighed and stopped shoving the six-year old's clothes in a duffle bag and knelt down to face him. He was in great pain and just kneeling down caused made him cringe in agony. He didn't have any medicine to take for the pain so he decided to just suck it up.

He took Hanbin's face in his hands and pressed his thumbs against his baby's soft, tear-stained cheeks.

"Baby, listen," Jungkook said, "you have to, it's just Jimin and Namjoon, you and Channie will stay there for a bit until I get things figured out and then you can come back home."

Hanbin shook his head as more sobs escaped his throat. Jungkook sighed and pulled him in for a tight embrace. Jungkook has been up since 1am - the time Minsun left and hasn't closed his eyes since and Hanbin has been by his side since. Chanwoo fell asleep at around two in the morning and was still fast asleep in Jungkook's bed. Jungkook tended to his own wounds and had checked Hanbin and Chanwoo and luckily found nothing though he did find blood in Chanwoo's mouth from biting Minsun and Jungkook forced him to brush his teeth and wash his mouth.

After Chanwoo fell asleep, Jungkook called Jimin. He knew Minsun had no idea where Namjoon and Jimin lived and he wasn't going to let his two sons stay with him and risk getting hurt if Minsun were to actually come back. Jimin hadn't answered when Jungkook first called and neither did Namjoon and Jungkook knew they probably wouldn't answer so early in the morning. However, Jimin ended up calling Jungkook at around seven when he was taking Minjae to school. Jungkook decided not to take Hanbin and Chanwoo to school today, he knew it wouldn't do well on them considering what happened hours before so keeping them at home was the better option.

Distressed and still shaken from what happened, Jungkook explained to Jimin that he needed someone to keep Hanbin and Chanwoo. Jimin eventually forced out a full-detailed explanation from the younger man and to say Park was angry was an understatement. He tried to convince Jungkook to go to the police but Jungkook voiced his fear that if he involved authorities Minsun would somehow find out and then his kids, especially Hanbin, would be in danger and because Minsun is somewhat huge in Korea, their situation would become public and that's the last thing Jungkook wanted. Jimin respected Jungkook's decision but still told Jungkook that involving the police would be a better decision.

Now, Jungkook was hastily packing his boys' bags. Chanwoo's bag was already packed and ready to go but Hanbin's wasn't and Hanbin wasn't making it any easier with his crying and obstinancy. Jungkook tried not to get mad at him as he knew that Hanbin wasn't actually crying about going to Jimin's, he was crying because he was anxious and he didn't know how to handle his anxiety.

He sat down on the floor and pressed his back against the chest in front of his bed. He pulled Hanbin down onto his lap and held him like a newborn baby. Jungkook used his sleeve to wipe away the tears streaming down the six-year-old's cheeks before moving his fringe out of his eyes.

"Remember when we moved out of your other daddy's big house and you were scared that he would come back?" Jungkook asked, "and I promised you that he wasn't coming back and that you'll never have to see any of that again, you'll never have to see him again."

Hanbin only nodded.

"Okay, and I promised to protect you and your brother-"

"A-And I p-p-promised t-to...pro-protected Chan-Chanwoo too."

"Yeah," Jungkook chuckled, "you promised to protect Chanwoo too and you do, you're a great big brother even when Chanwoo is being a bad little brother. And now, even though Channie thinks he's a big boy, he still needs his big brother to help him especially right now because he's scared and he doesn't understand what's happening - just like you, when he wakes up he's going to be with Jimin and I want you to tell him that it's just for a little bit because it will be just for a little bit and when you come back, we get to go back to doing normal stuff, okay? Right now, I can't promise that Minsun won't be back but I can promise that he won't hurt you or Chanwoo and I'm trying to protect you and in order to do that, you have to go stay with Jimin."
