Nicole's POV

"Don't worry so much, we're all here for you and am sure Jamie knows that too,he's just to hurt right now"

Bola kept repeating those words pulling me closer to him and keeping a firm grip on my waist

"All stand"

And at that moment, my body began to embarrass me shaking violently...
Nervousness is an understatement of what I feel right now

After the judge sat down,we all took our seats...

I was able to scrap up some money to hire a lawyer, of course with my aunts help seeing that I didn't have a job yet and am still a high school student, and speaking of school I have a lot to catch up on

"Calling the defendant to the stand" the court clerk announces

From the left side of the courtroom,I notice two officers holding Jamie by the arm literally dragging him inside
Okay,I may have exaggerated on the last part but it looks that way

"With greatness and surpassing honour to your lordship and this court,I am overjoyed and pleased to announced my appearance from heaven and my senior attorney "

The attorney for the other side announced

"You may cross examine the accused"
The judge replies

"Yes,your honor;  Now, where were you on the 7th of August last year?"
He asks Jamie who was picking at his nails

"At home"

"And where were you after that?"

"Tori's"

The lawyer sighed clearly annoyed by the short answers he was getting out of Jamie

"James Grey,you have to elaborate further than that if you don't want to end up in prison"

Jamie's lawyer then stands up to this and tells the judge to stop the attorney from speaking to his client but the judge simply says
"Overruled"

"Now I ask again James, where were you on the 7th of August last year or rather what were you doing that day?"

Jamie takes in a deep breath before answering

"Look, I got previous miscalls from Tori that day cause I refused to pick up, then when I eventually did,her voice sounded weird and I kept asking what was going on she hung up"

"And what relationship did you have with Mrs Houston?"

*after 5 minutes of hesitation*

"She was my sisters friend, and so we eventually became close cause she was always coming over"

I couldn't help but feel guilty when his gazed rested on me,it was like I caused all of this,all these things,horrible things that are happening to him

That's because you  are kinda responsible for his broken heart

Oh shut up already Mina!! I've had people do that for me,and yes I named my consciousness but don't we all? And here I am talking to myself again

Then I felt a sudden squeeze in my hand,looking up I already find Bola staring at me
"What?"

"Nothing, just that I don't want you blaming yourself for what's happening"

"What makes you think that?"
