I smell like Dylan, jeez, and I look like I've been thrown into a potato sack. I'm 5 foot 1 and Dylan should be 6 foot and more. I manage to get downstairs without falling down the stairs.
"Hey Dy, have you ordered yet" I say the moment I get down.
"Yeah the food's on the way" he starts to say when he spins around and see me "What!!!!! Out of all the whole hoodies I have in my closet that's the one you chose to wear, are you kidding me, that hoodie is fucking priceless"
"Shut up Mr priceless, I knew you were not a gentleman , I was expecting something around the 'you look cute in my hoodie' but no, you start screaming about how priceless the hoodie is and you better calm down before the vein in your neck pops" I say as I stroll towards the couch and plop down.
I hear him grunt as he says "Like you ever look cute in anything" he walks over to the couch and sits near me "Scot idiot, you're not that big, stop sitting like you own all the couch"
"Just shut up" I pick up the remote control and start scanning the channels for what to watch.
"When is the food going to get here I'm hungry" I say as I rub my stomach, I didn't get any answer from him so I nudge him with my shoulder " Earth to Dylan, a penny for your thoughts"
"I'm on Earth and I don't have a dime to give you"
"Stop being rude, I'm trying to be nice and thoughtful"
"It's hard to be nice to you when you are wearing my most expensive hoodie" he mutters
"Be a man already and get over the hoodie. I know you can a new one for yourself, so stop sulking" The doorbell rings and I jump up from the couch and skip to the door.
"Thanks for the food" I say as I collect the bag of food from the delivery guy and shout for Dylan to come and pay.
I go to the kitchen and unload the food, I start drooling at the sight of the food, God I love Dylan, he bought the extra large smoothie.
I put the food into plates and carry them to the living room. I grab a fork and dig into my spaghetti, I moan as the food touches my taste buds "God this food is delicious Dy" I look at him as I gulp down another forkful of spaghetti and catch him staring at me "What!!! The food is delicious"
He just shakes his head and turn around, I scowl at him and continue with my food.
15 minutes later
I've succeeded in eating more than half of the food " Dy, you know for a boy you eat kinda little"He snickered "When you're always shoving all the food down your throat, how do you expect me to eat anything at all"
"Order more for Christ's sake, we can always split the bill, stop being a crybaby"
"I'd order the whole restaurant and you'll still eat more than half of the food"
"Hey" I scream and hit his shoulder which makes him burst into laughter.
"What?? I only said the truth and you never get fat, I should expect by now with the way you eat to be like a very big ball" he says in-between laughter.
"Yeah yeah whatever" I stand up to pack the plates and load them in the dishwasher. After I cleaned up, I went back to the living room and sat on the couch.
We sat in awkward silence for some minutes before Dylan spoke up "You know I already hated you before my sister died"
"What!!!" I turn to him bewildered
"Yeah I did, you were all she ever spoke about. She used to pester me to come do this with her and do that for her, although I pretended that I didn't like it but I craved her attention day and night, until she met you and she wouldn't stop talking about how nice you were or how you helped her do this or when you told her this or whatever shit you guys did together" he glanced at me then continued "She always wanted me to meet you but I resented you, I resented the fact that she gave you her attention than me her younger brother, I always thought ' I'm your younger brother dammit and you spend more time with a stranger you just met than with me your own goddamn blood ' but I knew deep down that I pushed her away.
His eyes were starting to water as he continued "What about your brother, if it wasn't about you it was about him, it was like her whole world revolved around you guys and her brother didn't get to be part of the center of her world, I hated your family so much and God help me I tried my best to make her break with your brother but she was blindly in love with your brother nothing could change her mind about him not even her own blood" he laughed and I scooted closer to him "I decided to get her attention in other ways, I started misbehaving and I did get her attention but it was all wrong, she was always crying every time she heard that I had done something again, I always wanted to tell her I was sorry but I didn't get the chance, she died"
He full on looked at me now and silent tears were falling down his face as he said "So you get why I hated you so much and I was filled with guilt cause she asked me to come stay with you that day but I didn't want to go, I couldn't care less if you died" I flinched "But now I get what she was always talking about, what she sees in you" he reached up and wiped my eyes, I hadn't realise I was crying "Another person would have given up on me but you are just like my sister, she always saw the good in me and she stood by me, I realize that now, I found her diary few weeks ago and I knew I had no reason to hate you because you were never the problem, I was the problem and I destroyed her but I didn't want to destroy you as well that was why I pushed you away but you persisted like she did and I can't be more grateful Ashley"
