my eyes flutter open and i'm greeted with the almost never welcoming blonde face glancing down at me. he flicks his eyes back to the book he's holding in his right arm, not even bothering to say good morning.

i sit up abruptly, only just realising my head had been resting on his left arm.

'draco we're late' i say pointedly hoping for some kind of reaction out of him, 'i know' he murmurs distractedly keeping his eyes trained on his page. 'why didn't you get up?' i huff, finally getting him to look up.

he makes eye contact with me for a second, before looking back down at his book and replying. 'you were on my arm'. i realise as he sits up that he's shirtless, and to hide the fact that i was staring like an idiot i snap at him again.

'why did you sleep without a shirt on you moron it's freezing' spitting each word to convince myself i was really angry at him. 'you were wearing it' he replies again cooly, still distracted reading his book like he couldn't care less. i look down and shriek when i realise i am wearing his t shirt, spinning around and ripping it off over my head to swap it for my uniform.

i turn back around to face him and throw the t shirt at him in a ball, managing to land it directly on top of his book.  he finally reacts, picking the t shirt up and slamming his book shut 'what the fuck is your problem?' he hisses at me, pulling the covers off him and standing up to start getting dressed. 'you know exactly what my problem is, we said this wouldn't happen again' i shoot back, actually starting to be angry now as i really thought about what had happened.

'yes exactly, WE said. don't put all the blame on me y/n because this was very much a two person job' he buttons up his white shirt, reaching past me to snatch his jumper off the dresser. we've missed most of first period already, and the panic in me started to rise at the thought of getting another detention. this was starting to become a frequent thing and i was sure that one more detention would land me in a more serious punishment.

it was okay for draco, he could splash daddy's money and social status at any teacher and escape the consequences, it was me who was always left behind to deal with all the shit. life was so much easier for him, he had his own room, he bought his way on the quidditch team. money and power could do just about anything. his room used to be the male head of slytherins, but as of the past few years it had been decided they were no longer needed. while the female head room had been turned into a storage room, draco's dad had splashed his money to buy draco his own private room.

i looked up at him again, reminding myself how much quicker i needed to get dressed when i seen he was already putting his shoes on. 'lock the door on the way out' he muttered and stormed out of the dorm room, slamming the door behind him with such a force that his glass of water on the bedside table tipped over and soaked his precious book.

i debated saving it for a minute but that thought was quickly dismissed in favour of leaving it to soak. with any luck the words would blur and it would be unreadable.

my hair was too much of a mess to leave down this morning and i had no time to fix it, so i started to quickly pull my hair back into the worlds messiest ponytail while i scanned the room for my other school stuff. i spotted it, slightly nudged under the bed and quickly grabbed it, pulling the strap over my shoulder and hurriedly leaving the room.

by now i was so late that second period had long since began, but the teacher wasn't too strict and especially favoured me since i'd done so well in the defence against the dark arts class so far this year. i headed into the room as quick as i could, all ready to blurt out any excuse when i noticed the weird atmosphere in the classroom.

everyone looked pissed off and kind of scared, and i turned to the front of the class to see this weird looking woman in an awful pink dress staring back at me. 'well well well, a late comer. not a very good first impression is it now?' my eyes flitted over to the board, seeing the name 'professor umbridge' written in chalk.

'what's your name then?' she asked me.
'y/n l/n' i replied, trying to keep my cool. 'y/n l/n' she replied back to me, pulling a face as thought my name tasted particularly unpleasant in her mouth. 'see me after class'.

i quickly looked around the room for a spare seat, wanting to get out of this woman's gaze as quickly as possible. my eyes eventually landed on blaise zabini, which appeared to be the only spare seat in the classroom. great.

i headed over, passing draco and pansy parkinson on the way. pansy smirked at me, clearly relishing the fact that i'd gotten in to trouble. she's always had a problem with me, ever since i told her she had hair like a homeless poodle in first year. apparently she takes comments about her appearance to heart.

i sat down in the seat next to blaise, and even though i was mad about the fact i didn't get to sit next to one of my friends, i knew i could have been sat somewhere a lot worse. the only thing that is really bad about blaise is his friendship choice, he's not actively annoying like crabbe or goyle, or actively mean like draco and pansy.

'now, this class is going to have some slight changed this year' umbridge says, looking out across the classroom. 'for one, this is going to be a purely theory based class, there will be no actual spell casting in this classroom'.

'what?' burst out harry, 'how do you expect us to learn to defend ourselves against the dark arts if you're not going to let us actually learn the spells'.
a couple of the other class members muttered in agreement and umbridges face turned red, clashing with her pink outfit.

'potter see me after class with miss l/n please'. harry glanced across at me and i smiled sympathetically, even though i was secretly glad to have someone to share the detention with. i liked harry, and as a bonus i knew it would piss off draco. 'now open your books to page 163 please' umbridge said curtly.

blaise opened our textbook to that page and immediately started on the questions. i found he was pretty easy to get along with surprisingly, it worked out quite well because we seemed to be stronger at the other persons weaker areas. we helped each other out, keeping the noise down as much as possible to avoid getting in further trouble.

'so what do you think about umbridge getting rid of the practical work' blaise smirked at me. 'she's nuts' i replied, resisting the urge to laugh. 'tell me about it' he replied 'and have you seen how she's dressed? she looks like a oversized meringue' blaise grinned and i snorted without being able to help it, clapping a hand over my mouth.

draco spun around in his hair a couple rows ahead, shooting me an annoyed glance before spinning back around to pansy. 'what's going on back there' umbridge called, with a warning tone to her voice. 'nothing' blaise smiled at her, faking the absolute picture of innocence. 'miss l/n, you're on thin ice as it is, don't force me to give you a more serious punishment' umbridge threatened, putting her head back down to focus on her marking.

i glanced back over at draco, seeing him quite obviously 'picking a piece of fluff' out of pansys hair. gross. pansy grinned at me, looking openly elated at the attention she was getting from draco and clearly thinking she had one up over me.

i rolled my eyes, and looked to the side to see blaise doing the same as me. i bit my lip, trying to keep in the laughter that was threatening to bubble over. maybe blaise wasn't so bad.

the class finally came to an end, and as we walked out me and blaise finally let out the laughter we'd been holding in since we'd caught each other's reactions at draco and pansy. i leant against the wall, tears rolling down my face as i gasped for breath and looked over to see blaise clutching his stomach as he tried to compose himself.

each time we started to calm down, we would make eye contact and start all over again. it really wasn't that funny, i think it was more the knowledge that we both openly were disgusted by what had happened in front of us that kept sending us over the edge.

i felt a sudden closeness to blaise that i hadn't felt before despite the years i'd spent at this school already.

'something funny?' a voice asked dryly, breaking us out of our laughter. we looked up to see draco standing glaring at us with his arms folded, pansy waiting about a metre behind him. 'no, no mate, nothings funny' blaise replied, his voice wavering with the quite obvious laughter threatening to explode.

'come on dracy, we're gonna be late' pansy whined behind him, reaching her arm out and doing the grabby hand gesture at him, opening and closing her fingers. draco sniffed and turned around, walking briskly towards pansy and grabbing her hand. 'oh dracy, you smell good today. is that a new cologne?' we heard pansy simper as she was dragged away, and i didn't even have time to look up at blaise before we erupted into laughter again.
