i rolled over in bed, seeing the moonlight resting on draco's face. he'd fell asleep before me, for once, i think our argument last week had calmed him in some weird way. like shouting all his worries had let them go a bit. i bit my lip, realising that if it had been over a week since that argument then it had also been over a week since i'd forced myself to properly think about what would happen if i was pregnant. to top it off, my period hadn't came. 'draco' i whispered, shaking his shoulder, 'draco'.
'hmm?' he mumbled sleepily, reaching out his hand to see where i was 'y/n? it's like two in the morning what's wrong?'.
i paused. 'i think i'm pregnant'. draco shot bolt upright in bed, looking at me. i have never seen him move that fast ever. in hindsight, maybe this wasn't the best way to break the news. 'what?'

'draco it's going to cost so much money for the twenty four hour doctors' i whispered, kicking my legs and fidgeting on the hard orange waiting room chair while i waited for my results. 'i don't care' he replied, squinting his eyes a bit in the light, 'neither of us are going to sleep properly until we know'.
'miss l/n?' the doctor called, sticking his head out from behind the door. i stood up, walking towards the room with draco in pursuit. 'i'm sorry' the doctor said, putting his hand out to stop draco from coming in, 'it's relatives only'.
'we are related' i said firmly, reaching out to take draco's hand. the doctor looked at the two of us, his eyebrows raised. 'no, not like that' i blurted 'i mean he's my boyfriend, so this concerns him too'. the doctor sighed but clearly decided he wasn't paid enough to care this much, and stepped aside letting draco in. we sat down on the new set of plastic chairs and the doctor looked at us in silence. 'well?' prompted draco. 'you're not pregnant' the doctor told me, handing me the results of my test. 'so what's wrong with her then?' demanded draco 'why has she been vomiting?'
'what about my period?' i asked, looking up at him.
'my best guess would be stress' the doctor replied 'what age are you now? seventeen? you should have important exams coming up shouldn't you?' neither me or draco had any idea what kind of exams muggles our age would be sitting so we nodded silently. 'irregular period schedules, vomiting, they're all very common signs of stress. you've likely also made it worse by convincing yourself you were pregnant and worrying about that'.
'so she's okay?' draco sighed besides me, his shoulders visibly sagging with relief. i let out a breath i hadn't even realised i was holding. 'thank you' i smiled to the doctor, standing up and pulling draco out of the doctors surgery with me.

i waited until i was out on the street before i let out the yell i was holding in, spinning in huge circles and whooping as i ran down the street. 'draco?' i said, looking over at him and seeing he wasn't dancing like me, 'what's wrong?'.
'the doctor said it was caused by stress, that's another thing that's happened to you because of me'. i sighed, running back over to him and grabbing his hands 'you have to stop blaming yourself for every little thing that happens to me. i'm okay, see?'. he looked up at me and i saw something click in his head. 'maybe we could tell the dark lord you're pregnant anyway'. i looked at him like he was mad, he may as well have just suggested i drop draco and get engaged to pansy instead. 'what?' i said in disbelief. 'he's so worried about not having a second generation of followers, there's no way he would hurt you if he thought you were carrying a baby. he would protect you to make sure he had another generation of death eaters'.
'but that doesn't mean you would be safe'
'i know, but you would be'.
'draco, what have i told you. we're in this together. apart from that being the most stupid idea i've ever heard, because he's obviously going to notice when my stomach stays the same size, it also puts you even more at risk for being so careless. i'm not saving myself by dropping you in danger'.
'but-' draco started to protest.
'no buts' i cut him off 'this is both our problem now, not just yours. i keep telling you'. he sighed again, clearly deciding there was no point in arguing. i grinned up at him, knowing i'd won as he wrapped his arm around me and we started to walk back across the fields towards the manor, wondering if anyone would have noticed we'd left.
