friends with benefits - draco malfoy

chapter sixty

draco left about ten minutes ago to go find crabbe, goyle and blaise, leaving me sitting on his bed with firm instructions not to go anywhere. i didn't feel as sad as i probably should, for someone who was about to hand their best friend over to be almost certainly killed. i think my brain had just acknowledged the fact that it was either harry or draco, and as usual draco had won. the thing was, i knew i was probably going to be killed alongside harry. i was the reason that draco had let go of ron, therefore allowing ron to apparate the three of them out. i was the reason that harry potter had escaped, and there was no way in gods green earth that she was going to let me live because of that.

'come on' draco flung the door open for me, putting his hand out for me to take it. i stood up, reluctantly grabbing his hand and following him out. 'they're in the room of requirements, blaise seen them go'.
'what did you tell them?'
'who?'
'blaise, crabbe and goyle'
'they wanted to help, they've been trying to get in the dark lords pants since i told them i had to become a death eater' he scoffed, running down the stairs towards where the three of them were waiting at the bottom. blaise glanced at me, his eyes lingering on me for a moment as though he wanted to say something, before turning back to draco. 'are we going?'. draco nodded, starting to walk quickly down the corridor with us in tow.

we reached the room of requirements, pushing it open and seeing hermione, harry and ron standing there. the potion had worn off harry by now, his normal features back and perfectly recognisable. draco, blaise, crabbe and goyle drew their wands up immediately, and draco pushed me behind him. hermione, harry and ron drew their wands up too, checking the door to see if we had any death eaters in tow. 'you knew it was me' harry said suddenly to draco 'in the ministry. but you didn't say anything. why?'. draco hesitated, turning to look at me.
'y/n told me not to. i should have gave you away then. i've come to fix that now'. he took a step closer to harry and i reached forward, grabbing his arm. my stomach suddenly twanged with guilt. 'draco, lets just go' i pleaded 'we can't do this anymore'. draco turned back to me, his face twisted with confusion. 'y/n we have to, or she's going to kill you'. hermione turned to ron, exchanging a glance behind harry's back. 'who's gonna kill you y/n?' hermione asked, stepping towards me apprehensively. 'draco lets just run, we can be far away by the time bellatrix gets here'.
'bellatrix is after you?' ron asked 'shes dead'.
'what?' draco spat 'if this is your idea of a joke weasley i swear'. ron raised his hands in surrender, looking at me. 'do you really think i'd do that to y/n?' he asked 'she's safe, bellatrix is dead. my mam killed her herself'. draco stopped, turning back to me. 'we can go' i whispered, watching as draco started to drop his hand back to his side. 'oh for gods sake' blaise snarled, pushing past me and raising his wand. then the room erupted in flames.

'climb' draco screamed, reaching down for me and pulling my arm hard. it jerked out of my shoulder and i winced in pain, my brain finally snapping into action as i started to climb the tower. we reached the top, draco pushing me up and then climbing up next to me. standing up the same time as blaise reached the top from the other side. the three of us stood up and my gut did a somersault as the tower started to sway. 'it's not strong enough to hold all three of us' draco said, his voice paling. i grabbed his arm, knowing exactly what he was thinking as he looked over the edge. 'don't you dare' i shouted, latching on to him so tightly that my wrist seized up. blaise looked between us before stepping towards me and cupping my face, kissing me softly on the lips. 'i'm sorry' he whispered and in that moment, i knew exactly what he was going to do. 'blaise don't!' i yelled, lunging for him and starting to scream as i watched his body fall into the flames below. draco wrapped his arms around me, holding me while i cried. perhaps he thought i was going to throw myself off after him. the tower swayed again as the flames rised and draco gasped sharply, looking around to try and see how we could get out. i looked up, seeing harry flying past on his broom, slowing down as he passed us. 'y/n, get on' draco ordered, pushing me towards the broom. 'not without you' i protested, looking back at harry on the broom. the tower swayed again, lurching towards the flames. 'harry take her' draco begged and i thrashed out desperately as harry wrapped his arm around me and pulled me onto the broom, flying me away from the tower and dropping me on the floor outside the room of requirements next to ron and hermione. i sobbed, sinking into the floor and screaming. 'harry you have to go back' i pleaded, gasping as the tower tilted dangerously to the side. hermione wrapped her arms around me, shaking her head at harry. 'you can't harry it's too risky' she protested. harry looked at me and then back at the tower, hesitating for a second before turning and running back towards the tower, jumping back in his broom. hermione yelped, standing up from me and reaching forward to try and grab harry. ron pulled her back, now comforting hermione the way hermione had previously comforted me. i watched unable to tear my eyes away as draco jumped on harry's broom, speeding back towards us just as the tower collapsed behind him. draco jumped to the floor next to me, turning back and going pale as he saw the explosion start to fizz in the centre of the room. he dropped to the floor, lying on me and shielding me with his body as the room was ripped apart in an explosion.

'are you okay?' draco asked shakily, climbing off me and helping me to my feet. 'yeah, are you?'. he nodded and we looked over at hermione, ron and harry. they were all getting to their feet too; checking on each other and dusting themselves down. 'thank you' i said to harry, engulfing him in a hug. he squeezed me back, pulling back as we heard shouting erupt outside. 'they're here' draco said, his eyes widening. 'we have to go' he told me, taking my hand and pulling me away. 'wait' i pulled away from him, running over and pulling the trio into a hug. 'i love you all' i told them 'stay safe'. they smiled at me, turning and rushing down the corridor as i ran back to draco.

this chapter sucks when all the chapters are published and i'm editing i'm probs gonna completely rewrite this.

also if i get 10 votes on this chapter i will mass publish the rest of the book (there's only 5 chapters left but yuno)
