'shhh' draco put a finger to his lips, grabbing me and pulling me against the wall of the corridor. 'there's someone at the bottom of the hall' he whispered to me, and we stood for a minute with our backs against the wall, scarcely daring to breathe. he looked back down the corridor, grinning. 'it's okay they're gone' he said, taking my hand and starting to pull me along with him again. 'sneaking out's kind of fun isn't it' he laughed quietly, and i forced myself to nod back at him. there was absolutely no way i could let on to him that i snuck out most nights for DA meetings. i hated lying to him like this, and i knew i was gonna have to figure out a way at some point to tell him that i was involved in the group harry had made. maybe if i explained to him that it wasn't at all evil like umbridge had made out, then he might be less angry about it.
draco turned left at the end of the corridor, letting go of my hand and running forward to hold the door of the great hall open for me. i rolled my eyes at him, 'the great hall? draco we're gonna be in so much trouble if we get caught' i huffed, reluctantly walking through the door. he smiled at me, 'but we won't get caught y/n, that's the full reason we've came here instead of the common room'. he turned to me, kissing me gently on the lips. i looked up at him, starting to kiss him back as he brought his hand up to my neck. 'draco stop it' i whispered, 'if we get caught in here it's bad enough, if we get caught doing that we'll never live it down'. he smiled sheepishly, walking over to one of the tables and sitting down. i sat down opposite him, resting my chin on my hands.
'rock, paper, scissors, shoot' draco said, firing a paper. i went with a scissors, standing up off the bench to do a full curtesy to my imaginary audience. 'thank you! thank you' i said regally, waving to the pretend crowd. draco stuck his tongue out back at me, pretending to be unbothered. i beckoned him over with my hand, and he stood up reluctantly. 'what?' he asked, walking over to me.
'we never got to actually dance at the yule ball' i replied and he groaned. 'i hate dancing' he protested 'and besides, there's no music'.
'come on...' i pleaded 'where's your sense of imagination'. he groaned again, reluctantly placing his hands on my waist. i smirked at him, putting my hands around his neck and starting to sway from side to side. he barely moved at first, looking bored, but after a couple of minutes it was so obvious he was enjoying himself. he laughed, spinning me in and out like the professionals do. he pulled me back in to his chest, dipping the both of us in a full circle before pulling me back up to full height. 'i don't know any more moves' he admitted.
'of course you do' i giggled, pulling away from him and starting to do the funky chicken. 'y/n, that's so embarrassing' he said solemnly, looking at me.
'what?' i asked 'sorry, i can't hear you properly'.
'that's embarrassing' he said louder, covering his eyes with exaggeration. 'sorry' i said again, 'chickens can only talk to other chickens. if you want to talk to me you'll have to embrace your inner funky chicken'.
i shrugged and he dropped to his knees. 'please god, don't make me do this' he prayed, opening one eye to see if i was looking at him. i stuck my tongue out, starting to catwalk up the great hall aisle. i got to the end, posing dramatically and draco ran over to me. 'y/n, y/n' he said eagerly 'y/n hold that pose! can i please get an interview y/n! what is it like to be a top editorial model?' he asked, pretending to be impressed while he clicked with an invisible camera. 'well' i replied, pretending to think hard 'i definitely couldn't have done it without the help of my boyfriend, draco malfoy. he's my number one supporter'. i smiled cheekily, getting ready to catwalk backdown when i realised draco had stopped. 'what did you just call me?' he asked, staring at me like i was an alien. 'oh' i realised, my stomach dropping 'i didn't mean to say that'.
'oh' draco said too, pausing 'so you don't want me to be your boyfriend?' he asked. i dithered, wanting to say yes but not knowing how he would react. 'i dunno' i said awkwardly, not wanting to make things worse than they already were. to my relief, draco started hooting with laughter. i allowed myself to snigger too, letting him take my hand and start to lead me out of the great hall.'we should get back' he said, quieter now as we got closer to the door, 'i don't want my girlfriend to be tired for her classes tomorrow'.
'girlfriend?' i asked, feeling my face flush red. he had definitely said that on purpose. 'yeah' he confirmed, wrapping his arm around me, 'girlfriend'.
