~And this is how it starts~

Skylars POV.

I sat at the small corner table as I sat my bag down and checked my phone. My boyfriend Doug had asked me to meet him at the coffeehouse uptown for a couple hours since we don't since each other often anymore. He's a college student at Michigan University, and I am about to start going to a online junior college. It was the first month of summer, I just graduated from Howell Highschool and I had been dating Doug for six months. He has this 'always be friends with your exes' policy and I could totally understand that. In fact I thought it was nice of him.

The time was 1:26, and Doug had promised me he would be here at 1:30. I hadn't seen him in a week and a half and the one phone call I had with him was him cancelling coming over. I couldn't stand not seeing him for so long. He was always busy and had a life to attend to. I was his girlfriend who had to understand that.

After 20 minutes I got a little upset. My friends say I have a temper, I say I'm just sensitive. It was 1:47.

I sat down my phone but it instantly buzzed. It was a text from Doug.

Doug: Hey babe. Had to help Kate bring in a new bed, sorry be there in ten.

Kate was one of Doug's exes. They were really good friends and they hung out a lot which was expected considering they have the same major and are both sophomores in college. I actually liked Kate a lot. She was a good friend of mine. Enough to not get upset about her always being with Doug. This time was different though. He promised.

Skylar: Don't bother. Have plans with Sam in a half an hour, have to get ready.

Sam was one of my best friends from my childhood. We both grew up in Howell and we both hated living in a small town. We also had the common background of one of our parents dying. His dad passed, a few years after my mom. But that's another story. I actually didn't have any plans with Sam today but it was a good enough excuse.

I grabbed my bag and coffee and walked out. I was angry but I controlled it. I kind of wanted to just drive for hours, that's what I do when I need to think. I crossed the crosswalk and started towards my car which was a couple blocks away.

I heard somewhat loud laughter from across the street which was weird because it was mid-afternoon and most wanna be cool kids come out at night. I glanced across the street and saw a short guy walking out of the music shop and waving back inside. He was wearing black skinnies, a black leather jacket with black curls falling to the side of his face. I didn't recognize him from here, but I kept walking.

I was close to my car when I noticed he was walking towards me. I couldn't help but notice him and look him up and down. He was cute and had this bad boy sense to him and when I got to his face he had noticed and gave me a side smile and waved.

I felt my face redden a bit as I smiled back and quickly looked down. I unlocked my car and opened the door when all of a sudden he was propped up on the door and looking me right in the face. I had no idea how he got here so quickly but here he was.

"Uhm hello, love. I couldn't help but notice that you were looking at me over there, and I'm not from here and was hoping you could show me around a bit?" He smiled and combed through his mess of curls. Something about him felt welcoming and was soothing.
