THE CULPRIT & THE SOULMATES
Akina's day was already off to a rough start. From her restless night to spilling coffee on her shirt making her have to change she was not feeling the most upbeat. It was evident to her coworkers as the usual chipper girl didn't exchange 'good mornings' with anyone. Instead, she walked straight back to her office.
Now she sits contemplating even showing up today. Truthfully Akina hasn't recovered from her unexpected nightmare and instead of being here, she rather be home snuggling with her cat. That would be the perfect self-care for today.
And to make things ironic it was a gloomy day; the sun was hidden and the outside temperature was now chilly enough for big coats. All of these factors made her feel annoyed because it was a perfect-imperfect day.
Letting her head fall on the desk she closes her eyes and mumbles to herself 'Just get through the day, it'll all be okay.' Of course, she was expecting automatic relief but that didn't happen. She still felt frustrated and anxious and with that strings of curse words fill her office.
Knocks echos into her room making her close her mouth quickly stopping her words. Then after the knocks, Jihoon walks into the room holding two cups in his hands. "Got you some tea," he mentions before putting a white mug in front of her. She hums as he sides in a chair across from her.
"So what's got you so crabby today?" He slips through his mouth before taking a sip of his own mug. Instead of responding she just shrugs mirroring him. His eyes squint at her not believing her lies, he was the only person who could see through her like that in Seoul.
"Think I'm going to take some time off, ya know head back to Portland to see my grandma." She tells Jihoon one of her many thoughts she has had in the past 12 hours trying to change the topic. He claps excitingly remembering all the stories she has told him about her grandmother.
"That sounds fun if you go see Ms.Sato tell her I said hi."He lightly begs, "Wait then why are you acting like your cat peed on you, you're always happy when you talk about Ms.Sato."
A grunt comes out of Akina, he can read her too well for her comfort. Which was something she still is not used to. Her and Jihoon are close, she kept all of her past to herself which Jihoon never questioned.
When she moved to Seoul she had no one for a while. So naturally having friends became even more foreign than it did before. Ever since her parent's death, she closed herself off, never showing the fragile girl that she is.
The only person to this day that knows that Akina is just a soul who doesn't have a home is her grandma. When she was in the hospital after the fire her grandma was on a cruise and couldn't get to her. She was alone for a week with her excruciating thoughts. When she came it was hard for Akina to open up. Luckily as time passed her and her grandmother got closer but it never filled the void her parents left.
