At Starbucks, Mat and May sat in lounge chairs sipping on their "fancy" coffees called, cappuccinos. The taste was delightful though. The creamy coffee and whipped cream and the sorts of creams and flavors they put in, just yum.
"So, why did you do so bad? You're one of the smartest guys I know!" May asked as she sipped her heaven in a cup.
"I don't know. I was just... it's the first day back... and... I... I don't know. I was out of it. Tired, I guess."
"We all were! And it's not like those test matter! It's fifty questions that don't even count as a real grade!"
"I guess you're right."
"I always am! Now, let us proceed drinking these delightful beverages." May sarcastically exclaimed and they both drank down their cappuccinos.
"Hey, did you finish your new drawings for your new portfolio?" Mat asked, still sipping the drink.
"No, not quite yet. I finished the one," May exclaimed. "It's of a girl in an alley."
"Cool. Hey, look who just walked in." Mat pointed to the door where a familiar figure walked in.
May looked over. She saw his perfect brown hair topped upon his head. His smile the same stupid smirk as always. And there, wrapped around his arm was the arm of Emily Esterson, one of the most popular girls in school.
"Oh my God! It's Jake!" May whispered. Jake is May's ex-boyfriend. They dated through the whole entire eighth grade and just broke up before Thanksgiving break.
"Hide me!" May mouthed to Mat. So, Mat quickly through his coat over May's head and May sunk in the chair.
"Hey, Mat, how are 'ya?" Jake asked.
"Good, yourself?"
"Pretty good."
Achew! May sneezed from beneath the coats.
"What was that?" Jake asked.
"Me!" Mat hesitated. "Achew!"
"It sounded like someone was under this..." Jake lifted the coat. "May! What a surprise!"
God! May thought.
"How have you been?"
"Good!" May replied through her teeth. She was annoyed.
"May, do you know Emily?"
"Yeah, we are in Spanish together."
"Band too! I play the french horn." Emily said.
"Right, right."
"Are you still doin' your 'art' thing?" Jake asked.
"Yep." She was really annoyed now.
"Cool, cool."
"Art? You're an artist?" Emily asked.
"Yeah."
"I've always thought that artists were just people that can't get a life."
"What? Excuse me?"
"May, calm down." Mat placed a fake smile on his face.
"This little...!"
"Excuse me?! I was just giving my opinion!"
"Well, your opinion sucks! And to top that, your dirty ass mouth has been sucked up against my ex-boyfriend's face!"
Then they both started screaming.
