Hi everyone as you can see this isn't a chapter update but I'll be doing one after tomorrow. You're wondering what this PSA is about right?

This is no way shape or form hate towards the following group. I'm just upset at what is going on. Cherry Bullet a girl group has recently released a song titled Aloha 'Oe. I've heard it and I would love it if it wasn't titled Aloha 'Oe or had the melody for Aloha 'Oe. Below I have linked 2 videos. One you recognize from Lilo & Stitch the second is the original piece. Disclaimer the 'original piece' is a rendition of the song.

Now backstory of the precious song. The song was written by our last Queen Lili'uokalani who reigned from 1891-1893 (Considerably recent I know). The song was intended to be a long song but became a farewell song which is why the song was used in the way it was for Lilo & Stitch. Our Queen wrote this from her palace bedroom that she was held prisoner in. Yes you read that correctly imprisoned in her own home.

The song Aloha 'Oe was written as a farewell to her nation and her people. We were dying left and right by the diseases brought over by foreigners. The Hawaiian people then never had extreme sickness like it before. Queen Lili'uokalani at the time also was dealing with these foreigners trying to steal her kingdom from her which they managed. How? She needed to save her dying nation and unfortunately turned over the throne before she died.

This song is a song of mourning for the nation that slipped through her fingers. This song is used by us at big ceremonies such as graduations and funerals. I am not the only Hawaiian upset about this. Many are and it's also for the fact that it's not being widely talked about right now. I am talking about this a week after the song release because I only found it out myself about an hour ago. I've been on Instagram and twitter. Unfortunately still no attention granted it is late but I have many followers in the same time zone as me currently on their socials right now. I'm not trying to guilt anyone into sharing it but I do wish there was more talk about it.

There's a fine line between culture appropriation and appreciation. I've seen people say we have no right to control what can and can't be used in OUR CULTURE. You are partially right and that's where appreciation and appropriation comes to play. You can use something from a culture if you understand (definitely not hair or clothing though) it not because you think it looks cool or it'll get you so many likes on social media.

Again this is no hate to this girl group at all I'm just a little disappointed you know. I'm upset that it happened just liked I'm upset about what other cultures have things taken from them. I've talked about it on my twitter before (unfortunately I won't give that out because I don't want people to know who wrote the god awful stories in 2018) and this is the first time I've ever brought something up like this here because this is my culture you get me?

This song was not meant for it to be taken and be used the way it was. Again I wish people would take it seriously. I and my fellow Hawaiians would appreciate if you would share the information if and where you can.

As for the story, I'm glad you guys like it and I appreciate that you don't demand updates like I've seen people on instagram imagines do. Like I said the next update will be in a day or so and will probably have two chapters like before. I hope you guys are all being safe out there with corona. Those of you who may have started school, I know it's different but you got this I believe in you. If you ever need anything my messages here are ALWAYS open.
