Day 7: Write something containing the line, “He always had a juice box.”

Jack was very much a kid at heart. It was why his friends loved him, his family was annoyed by him, and apparently why all of his girlfriends left him. But he didn’t care; he wasn’t planning on changing for anyone. He would find someone someday who loved him for him, and not want him to change a single thing, and he was content with that thought.

So, it was really no surprise to his friends that he became captivated with the new boy, Patty, who had moved from England. He always had a juicebox for lunch, even though they were in high school, and that excited the inner kid in Jack. And Patty was quick to make friends with Vic, Jaime, Tony, and Mike, so Jack knew Patty liked and got along with the same kind of people he did. Plus, it seemed that whenever Jack looked over to their table at lunch, Patty was always smiling or laughing. He longed to be the cause of that smile.

One day, Jack’s opportunity to talk to Patty arose. Vic was his partner in science, and Jack couldn’t get the idea of bonding through his head. It was all too confusing for him, and Vic was great at explaining things. So, at lunch, Jack excused himself from his friends’ table and walked over to where Patty and Vic were sitting.

“Hey Vic, I didn’t get the science homework last night. Can you help me?” Jack asked. Vic smiled.

“Sure Jack! Pull up a chair. Scoot over a little Patty.” Vic said, scooting over himself. Patty made more room and Jack pulled a chair up, getting out his binder.

“I’m Jack, by the way, in case you didn’t catch that earlier.” He smiled. He always had a certain charm about him, according to his friends. Patty smiled back.

“I’m Patty. It’s nice to meet you.”

“It’s nice to meet you too.”
