Chapter 158 - Fire Dance

Wuxian sat in his Treasure Room, looking at the aggressive letter his brother sent him. Jiang Cheng's ability to show affection while cursing has to be a talent. Wuxian smiles at the part where Cheng subtly hints that he wishes Wuxian was in Lotus Pier with him. The young Oracle takes a deep breath, vowing to return there when things settle down.

Yuxio skips her way into the Treasure Room where Wuxian summoned her. She saw the gentler smile on his face as he was distractingly reading a letter. She walks slowly towards him and sits in front of his desk, placing her elbows on the table and leaning her chin on her hands to gaze dreamily, and very closely, at her Grandmaster.

Wuxain felt someone breath nearby and flinched when he looked up to see Yuxio's face an inch away from his. He uses his finger to push her face away by her brow then wipes his finger on his robes: "Can you be less weird?"

Yuxio laughs and sits back: "Can you be less pretty?"

Wuxian tsks at her then hands her the letter he was reading: "Next week is my last healing session. Jiang Cheng wants you back as soon as we're done."

Yuxio's smile drops and she looks closely at the letter: "I don't want to go back."

Wuxian frowns: "I helped you, you helped me. I think we're even. You need to go back home."

Yuxio looks sadly at him: "No."

Wuxian sighs: "You're a Jiang Clan disciple. You can't stay here forever!"

Yuxio grabs Wuxian's hand with both of hers and pleads: "We are not even! You are my Grandmaster. Wherever you go, I go."

Wuxian stares at her serious face for a few seconds then whispers: "Yuxio, you need to live your life. My battles are not yours to conquer."

Yuxio brings the hand in hers to her cheek and closes her eyes: "I roamed the earth for many years, lost and without a purpose. You gave me closure, a reason to thrive and a future to look forward to. I will not abandon you."

Wuxian feels a smile grace his face as her emotions wash over him: "I appreciate your loyalty, but I want a better life for you. You are the last Phoenix Warrior. A unique and strong fighter that can do amazing things. I cherish you and wish only for your freedom.."

Her face dims in his vision as another sight fills his thoughts..

'Wuxian sees Yuxio in an open green field, practicing her routine with a fire lit sword. Her moves are so graceful and effortless, like a dancing bird in a cold stream. Things morph around her and the scene changes to her laughing as she dances with Jiang Cheng. The love Wuxian witnesses between the two was so precious, that he found himself covering his mouth to hold his emotions in. The scene shifts once again to Yuxio spinning around, holding a young child, swinging him from her hands and catching him as he squeals in laughter. Things shift one last time, back to an older Yuxio practicing her moves, followed by four youngsters.. All with fire lit swords..'

Wuixan returned to reality with a happy sob. Yuxio looks at him with concern: "Are you ok? Was that a vision? Your hair didn't glow, just your eyes."

Wuxian wipes his face and looks at her with a warm smile: "I saw your freedom.."

Yuxio frowns in confusion: "Should I call Healer Shi? You're acting weird."

Da Ziran slithers on the table between them and whispers: "The young Oracle wished for your happiness and triggered a vision of your best fate."

Yuxio's eyes widen: "The snake is talking to me.."

Wuxian rubs Da Ziran's head: "I triggered it?"

Da Ziran: "You truly wish for her happiness. This is your doing."

Yuxio scratched her head, still confused: "What did you see?"

Wuxian stayed silent for a few seconds then whispered: "I can't tell you. It's a future among many. You have to make your own choices to get there."

He reaches over and caresses her cheek gently: "Just know, if you make the right choices.. What I saw was a damn good future."

Yuxio puts her hand on the one caressing her cheek and smiles back: "I trust you."

Wuxian: "So you will go back home?"

Yuxio: "I will never have a happy ending if the darkness consumes our world. Let me help you defeat the faceless man and I will return without a fight.. I promise."

Wuxian takes his hand back and points accusingly at her: "If Cheng shows up huffing and puffing, I will throw you under the cart. Don't you dare blame your stubbornness on me!"

Yuxio laughs at him: "Jiang Cheng doesn't scare me. He's like a big loud teddy bear."

Wuxian whispers to himself: "I hope he completes you like my mate completes me.."
