.
Jiang Cheng sighs loudly.
He traveled all the way here to fetch the woman sitting before him but she refuses to listen to his request: "You think I don't care? He's my brother you know.."
Yuxio: "It's not about caring. You have responsibilities back home. I can stay and help out."
Cheng glares at her. He wants to argue that he needs her, that she has responsibilities as his senior disciple and clan member. But, all of these excuses sound lame compared to hers. She wants to stay to ensure all their futures. Wuxian was right, Cheng needed to hear her reasoning to understand her blatant defiance.
He closes his eyes, feeling frustrated at having no good excuse to take her back with him.
She looks at his defeated posture and reaches across the table to rub his clenching fist: "I promised Master Wei that I would return as soon as we defeat the faceless man. I am loyal to you, Jiang Cheng. I will return when the time is right."
He looks sadly into her eyes: "Do you want to come back?"
Yuxio smiles warmly at him: "I love Master Wei, but he convinced me that a future with you is the best for me. I trust his judgment."
Cheng: "So.. you're just listening to my brother?"
Yuxio sighs loudly at the man before her: "Stop sulking! I said I will come back!"
Cheng stares into her eyes for a few seconds then nods: "Alright."
Yuxio beams at him, grateful that he finally listened to her and agreed with her reasoning.
Cheng reaches into his robes and takes out a woven tassel and gives it to her.
He looks at it: "What's this?"
Cheng clears his voice, a little bit flustered: "A gift."
Yuxio smiles widely at him: "You made this?"
Cheng looks down, cheeks red: "Yeah.."
Yuxio really loves this side of Cheng. He doesn't show it to a lot of people and she feels privileged to be one of the few he feels comfortable showing it to.
She ties it into her sword and admires his work: "It's beautiful. Thank you."
Cheng felt his heart beat faster. She did not even hesitate to accept his gift.
He really hopes that this woman will not choose Wuxian's loyalty over him like Wen Qing did in the past.
Wuxian was ordered to rest for a few days to restore his energy. Not having a golden core means that he needs to constantly store energy in his limited spirit container. Making the talisman and fighting off Biming was a lot to take for someone who just got his body fixed.
Wuxian did not complain.
He got to spend more time with his kids and disciples. Hweiru has been super clingy the past few weeks and Wuxian needed to spare her some quality time to calm her down.
He took her to the cold spring to soak their feet and enjoy the warm sun.
She giggled as Wuxian swung his feet too hard and a few drops splashed onto their robes.
She stares at the water touching Wuxian's feet and points at it: "Mama, why is the water glowing?"
Wuxian looks at it and says: "I don't know. I just feel it sing to me."
