It took a while for Wuxian to heal both Grandmaster Qiren and Yuxio. By the time he was done, he was ready to drop so Wangji gently guides him home and lays him down in bed.
Wuxian whispers to him before exhaustion takes over: "Is it done?"
Wangji hums his reply.
Wuxian: "All the spirits are out?"
Wangji caresses his soulmate's cheek and says: "All is well. Rest."
Wuxian finally closes his eyes, happy that for once they got a win.
Wangji stares at the sleeping man for a while. He senses the shift in the room and whispers: "Did you find him?"
Wen Ning steps out of the shadows and whispers back: "No. It's hard to track a man that can shift between dimensions. The Slayer is still out, I'm not sure if he will have better luck than me."
Wangji sighs at the mention of Jinhai.
He has mixed feelings about the man. Logically, he cannot accept a man that has murdered more people than anyone cares to admit but his soulmate seems strangely attached to him. Wuxian tried to explain it to him but failed miserably. He said that something his future-self said seems odd and keeping the man close is better than having him as an enemy.
Wangji didn't understand but he trusts Wuxian completely. If his soul-bond wishes to trust this unruly man, then Wangji will too. From the few glimpses he was able to steal during the fight today, Wangji wouldn't be surprised if Jinhai was as strong as he was.. The only advantage Wangji has over him is his first-class weapon: Bichen.
He smiles at Wuxian when he sighs contentedly while sleeping and inches closer to his hand. If anyone can convince a murderer to be a saint then it's this angel before him. He leans in and places a small kiss on Wuxian's lips before he leaves.
Wangji sat in the library, looking over a few requests from other clan members when Zewu Jun entered the room in haste: "Jiang Clan Leader is at the gate."
Wangji frowns: "Are we expecting him?"
Zewu Jun shakes his head.
Wangji stands up to follow his brother to the gate: "Why is he here?"
Zewu Jun shakes his head again.
They reach the gate to see Lan Ran standing next to a fuming Jiang Cheng and his followers. Cheng sees Wangji and huffs: "Why do we have to go through all these formalities every time I show up? Aren't we technically family by bonding?"
Wangji glares at him: "Why are you here?"
Cheng raises his eyebrow, clearly offended by Wangji's blunt questioning: "I'm here to see my brother."
Lan Ran smiles at Cheng and says: "Pardon our confusion, Jiang Clan Leader. We are a bit surprised by your visit. We were not expecting you or we would've done a better job at welcoming you."
Cheng tsks and stares at Wangji: "Where is Wei Ying?"
Zewu Jun intervenes before Wangji adds more oil to Jiang Cheng's fire: "He's resting."
Cheng: "The sun is still up. I thought you guys healed him already?"
Zewu Jun felt like a headache was starting to brew: "We had an unexpected visitor which caused him to use a lot of energy. He's fine."
Cheng rubs his neck: "Unexpected visitor?"
Wangji replies blankly: "The faceless man was here."
