Biming was dejected.
He felt like his life was just a series of curses that he truly did not deserve.
As a child, he grew up alienated because of the things he saw that no one else seemed to see.
His father, who fancies calling himself the King of Wraith, has been visiting him every night to whisper his pleas for freedom. At the beginning, young Biming felt motivated to free his family. As he grew up and started to understand what his father was doing.. He began to resist.
But..
How can one man resist a king and his army?
Biming's father was cunning and manipulative. He suckered his son into committing crime after crime until the deities finally noticed his existence and exerted their anger on him.
Biming wonders sometimes, if his missing face reflects his lack of choices in life?
He sighs loudly as he wanders into the woods, heading towards the closest city to start the end of his miserable life. He thought of ending it many times before, but his father did not condone his weakness. He crowned him as the Dark Knight; a cultivator human and a Wraith. The best of two worlds. How can a man as strong as the faceless man be weak at heart?
Biming knew he wasn't strong.
When the choice between his freedom or the salvation of his people was presented to him, he picked their salvation. The shaman knew that Biming had tried many times in the past to get rid of his father, to sever his connection with the Wraith world and let them rot in their hell with no one to listen to their calls. The moment the deities decided to take his face was the moment they drove him to seek revenge. He was in too deep to ask for forgiveness as a free man.
He sits under a large tree to rest for a while. An image of the golden haired man he just fought off popped into his mind and he smiles. He never thought that the deities would go as far as create an opposite of him.. For him..
He knows that Wuxian was put on this earth to defeat him and his father but something about the man makes Biming's heart flutter. It's not love since he is incapable of feeling that.. Then what was it? Biming closes his eyes, ready to take a short nap when a voice whispers to him: "You failed."
Biming cracks open one eye to stare at the ugly face of his father as he looms over him: "I will fix it."
The King hovers around his son, assessing his odd expression: "Why do you look happy?"
Biming sits up, glaring at his father: "I'm not happy!"
His father's constant calmness used to scare Biming as a child. Now it only serves to irritate him. The King settles nearby and looks around as he says in a tranquil voice: "The Oracle has gained his strength. He will get stronger with time. We need to end this soon or he will be able to stop you."
A part of Biming wished that his father's words were true. The King saw the slight hesitation in his son's response and smirked at him: "You like him?"
Biming scoffs: "I am incapable of liking anyone.. You made sure of that."
The King steps close, smiling as he examines his son's face: "Yet, you find him fascinating.."
Biming stares passively at the man and chooses not to respond. His father is not the type of man that accepts denial well.
The King puts his hands behind his back and lifts his chin to deliver his ultimatum: "Listen to me, son. This man might shine bright but he is not flawless. Just like you, he was born lowly and rose to fame. The deities chose him over you which makes him your rival but not your equal. If you believe that he is your freedom then rest assured, the only thing he will bring you is death. And with the sins you've committed, you will join us in the darkness with no escape."
Biming stares at the man: "How would you know? You can't see the future."
The King smirks: "I have lived longer than most and seen many men rise and fall. I can smell weakness from a mile away. Yours stink of defeat and his stinks of familial bonds."
Biming frowns: "What does that mean?"
The King inches close to whisper to him: "The Divine Oracle is made to be your opposite. While you are unable to connect with others, he is unable to stop caring for everyone."
Biming groans, rubbing his faceless face in frustration: "Do you even hear yourself speak? Tell me what you want to tell me without the riddles, old man!"
The King chuckles at his son's frustrations: "Kill them all."
Biming looks at his father with wide eyes: "Kill who?"
The King: "Everyone.."
Biming chuckled darkly: "You want me to kill all humans? I may be strong but I am not a God."
The King glares at his snarky son: "The more you kill the more he loses. He must learn that actions have consequences. He took what was not his and now others must pay for his sins."
Biming leans back to rest his head on the tree trunk: "I don't have a Shoucang Zhe. What's the point?"
The King kneels to whisper into his ear: "That's not the only way to make a first-class weapon, fool."
Biming sighs loudly: "Pray tell, all mighty King. What do you have planned for your slave son?"
The King smirks, leaning in to whisper into his son's ear.
Biming felt dread fill his soul at his father's request. He thought he was going to rest for a while, but his father's words made him tenser than ever.
He picks up his sword and continues his journey. His father stood back, smiling at his obedient son. Biming did not have a choice.. He picked their salvation and he will die trying to bring it to them. He can rest when he's dead..
After all, evil never sleeps..
