CAMERON RESIDENCE.

ten months ago.

IT WAS HOT, her bedroom. However, having just jumped into a pool of cold water, Sarah Cameron was shivering. "Are you not gonna change out of those clothes?" Emma asked. Sarah looked up as the girl entered the room, holding a bottle of whiskey.

Sarah laughed lightly, out of breath from how cold she really was. "Yeah, actually." She got up as Emma took a seat on the bed. Sarah grabbed a pair of sweats while Emma peeled off her hoodie.

"Catch." Emma tossed the girl the sweater.

Sarah caught it with a smile. "Thanks."

___

EMMA'S NERVES FELT numb. All of it felt numb as she poured the contents of the baggie onto her phone. Her hands trembled as they reached for the credit card, she cut a crooked line. She shook her head and began rolling up a dollar bill, she took a breath before she snorted the line of coke. "Shit." Emma coughed into her elbow, taking a few deep breaths when her bedroom door was slammed open.

"E, you'll never believe-" JJ's sentence was cut short as he took in the situation. The drugs on the girl's phone, the card, her dilated eyes looked nearly black. He quickly shut the door behind him.

"J, I can-"

JJ shook his head. "Sh- shut up. Just shut up Em." JJ grabbed her phone and dumped the drugs into a cup of water.

"JJ!"

"I said shut up." He didn't look at her as he blew the rest of the coke off the phone and onto the carpet. JJ grabbed the empty baggie, holding it between his fingers, he walked out of the room, Emma quickly behind him.

Her eyes flickered toward the couch seeing the rest of the pouges before she heard the cup of water being poured down the drain in the kitchen. JJ then walked out back, Emma followed after him. He threw the bag into the dumpster turning to face Emma finally. "What the hell?!" She shouted, shoving him as hard as she could. "I needed that!"

"No you didn't!" He yelled back. "What the hell Em? I mean seriously? You're just gonna get high and forget about your problems?" JJ questioned angrily, thinking of his father who did the same thing everyday.

"Yes! I want to forget, JJ! I don't want to feel like my world just keeps crumbling at my fingertips because everything I touch falls apart! I don't want to feel anything anymore!" She was screaming at that point, unaware of her brother, Pope and Kie watching this go down.

The blonde boy shook his head again before hugging Emma. "You have me, The pouges. We're not falling apart anytime soon." John B was next to join the hug, then Pope and finally Kie.

"We're family." Pope said quietly as tears fell from the intoxicated girl's eyes.

Kie nodded in agreement. "Pouges for life."

Emma sniffled, her hands balling the material of JJ's shirt into fists, soft cries escaping her lips. "I'm sorry."

"No, don't be sorry. We got you okay?" JJ said, running his fingers through her hair as she shook her head.

"I'm so sorry J." Tears soaked the blonde's shirt as Emma cried, he held her closer.

"You're okay, Em. It's okay." He said, she shook her head again. "Come on. Let's get you inside." He lead her inside and put her on the couch before going into her room and grabbing a blanket. He put the blanket over the girl who stared out the window. "Wanna drink?" He asked, watching a lopsided smile form on her face.

She shook her head, threw the blanket off of her and stood in the middle of the room. "Let's go surfing!" John B smirked at his sister.

He got up. "You heard her. Let's go surfing."

LAYING NEXT TO the girl, Emma was content. She played with her fingers as Sarah traced patterens along the girl's collar bones. "I missed you all week." Sarah tiredly mumbled. "Kie wouldn't shut up about you and it just made me miss you so much more."

Emma smiled, a light blush adorning her cheeks. "I missed you too, baby." She kissed the crown of Sarah's head, something Emma knew she liked.

"I love you, Emma."

"I love you, Sarah Cameron. More than anything."
