And that's when he heard it, a frantic cry coming from the second level:

"Tsukki!"

———

Everyone's eyes turned to the stairwell, and a gasp of mingled relief and horror was shared as they recognized who had shouted.

Tsukki's grip on his gun slipped to the point he almost let it go, he could feel tears threatening in his eyes and a pang of relief and dizziness so strong he almost toppled over ran through him.

It was him. It was Yamaguchi.

He's alive! The blond could barely comprehend his own thoughts, though his warmth was cut short when Yamaguchi was abruptly pulled back from the staircase.

A yelp escaped the cadet, obvious he was trying to fight back and get himself away though the bulletwound at his side was giving him trouble. He strained, breathing heavy and biting his lip in agony as the wound by his hip stretched with the effort. "Shiratorizawa is here too!" He shouted in warning, voice cracking. "Go, please go!"

He was wrenched backwards by two of Kuroo's boys despite his best efforts to get away, still frantically trying to warn his mafia.

"Go on," Kuroo moved first, smirking and pulling two pistols from his holster, holding both of them up towards Daichi. "Go get him."

Asahi and Suga locked eyes, seeming to come to a conclusion without even speaking.
But before either of them could move, Kageyama had lifted his gun towards the ceiling and pulled the trigger all in one quick motion.

One of the grand light fixtures shattered on impact with the bullet, showering glass down towards the ground. "Hinata! I'll follow you, go!" He shouted, holstering the firearm and glaring behind his shoulder to see if his idea had worked.

It had, everyone had ducked their heads down and shielded their necks with their arms to avoid the glass with surprised gasps, which left a perfect window of unguarded time to get up to the next floor.
Hinata obliged and scrambled into a run, keeping one hand along the banister as he hurried up the stairs two at a time, heartbeat ringing in his ears. "Hurry up, come on!"

Kageyama turned sharply to see how far up the stairwell Hinata was, reassured that he was out of range for anyone to try shooting at him, and broke into a sprint to follow after him. "Keep going!"
Tsukki naturally followed after them, glancing over his shoulder to see Kuroo shouting instructions to Yamamoto and Yaku, the two standing closest to him, before Noya and Tanaka hurried to block off the staircase - ensuring nobody else could get up and intercept Hinata or Kageyama.

Tsukki's breath was hot in his throat, the reminder that Yamaguchi was alive kept him going, the idea that the cadet was bruised and bloodied somewhere up there and needed him kept his heart pounding, soon enough falling into stride with Kageyama as they neared the top.
Neither found the time to poke light insults at each other as they often did, too busy focused on the task at hand.

Oikawa watched Kageyama through narrowed eyes, flicking a shard of glass from his overcoat and whistling sharply to get his deputy's attention on the second level. "Iwa-chan! Cut them off!"

Iwaizumi immediately glanced over at Matsukawa upon hearing the direction, getting a nod in response and grimacing as he loaded his gun.
The minute Hinata came around the turn of the staircase that would lead to the main room of the next level, he pulled the trigger.
