•Recap•
Blue eyes, dark, but bright enough that Kenma could instantly recognize them from all the way on the ground.
Akaashi.
———
Kenma's eyes widened, freezing mid-stride as he watched Akaashi unwind a string of sorts that he let fall nearly to the ground, sliding down with ease from his crook in the ceiling and hopping down to the floor the last few feet.
Hurriedly, Kenma peered over to the door.
Semi was gone.
Fearing Akaashi would try to take down another one of his cadets or try to go for Kuroo again, Kenma narrowed his eyes and pulled a dagger from his holster. "What are you doing here?" He seethed.
"I've been here the whole time," Akaashi responded with furrowed brows, keeping a wary eye on the blade in Kenma's hand while starting to take a step forward. "You just haven't seen me."
Kenma moved in that second - trusting Kuroo was safe - and broke into a sprint towards Fukurodani's deputy, hurling the knife at him with all the arm strength he could muster.
Akaashi managed to dodge it, grabbing hold of Kenma's arm just before the boy had time to slow down, wrenching it sideways with a painful twist and using his shoulder to brace against Kenma's chest as the cadet skidded against him - ultimately popping the deputy's elbow out for a little more than a few seconds.Kenma let out a yelp and took a quick breath that almost sounded like a gasp, tears surfacing to his eyes with the excruciating pain that followed, arm already numb by the time Akaashi let go. He stumbled back, clutching his injured elbow and blinking away tears. "You're-"
"I'm not here to fight you, and I don't want to either." Akaashi interjected, voice calm and controlled per usual. "I need you to listen to me. I know you don't trust me, but he's not who you think he is," he pointed to where Kuroo was collapsed unconscious onto the ground while Kai had taken off his own overcoat to press it against the bulletwound at his leader's shoulder.
Kenma seemed offended, instinctively moving himself into a position that would block Kuroo off from Akaashi's vision, still holding to his elbow. "You don't know anything about him."
"You have to trust me," Akaashi frowned, brows creased as he shook his head in concern, messing with the rifle that was strung over his shoulder for a few seconds. "He's planning on-"
"Pull the trigger!"
Both Kenma's and Akaashi's eyes flew up to the staircase as the command was shouted.
Makki and Mattsun were both positioned by the banister with Oikawa standing beside them, both taking aim straight for Akaashi.Eyes widening at the sight of two cadets aiming for him, Akaashi abruptly took a step back and sucked in a breath as alarm flared through his chest.
Before anyone could shoot however, Bokuto and Konoha leapt from their cover from somewhere along the pillars that ran along the staircase, Komi only a stride behind them.
