Recap

The unmistakable noise, loud and clear.

Gunshot.

———

Sakusa strode through the room slowly, taking his time in observing as many people as he could. His eyes were void of much emotion except for a harsh and deadset focus, adjusting how his mask sat over the bridge of his nose.

Based upon what his entrusted business partner Komori had told him, Daichi was in the building as well - which was a sigh of relief. It would've taken much more effort to hunt him down, but if he and the other cadets of Karasuno were just a sitting target, Sakusa could relax.

He took a few more long strides, hands slung comfortably into the pockets of his slacks. From what he'd observed, none of the leaders seemed as easy as he'd thought they'd be. All of them were watching the room with keen eyes and a guarded expression.

It appeared as though there was a scuffle of sorts though, as the next time Sakusa looked over at them only Bokuto and Kuroo were remaining and Bokuto had taken a sort of defensive posture alongside Akaashi.

Gunshot rang out.

Just one bullet was fired, it was obvious by the lack of loud echoes, but it was enough to spur the crowd into action.

People shoved by him to frantically get to the door, screams filling his ears as he stood still, wide-eyed, staring towards where it had come from.

Well, that hadn't been part of the plan.

He watched through his peripheral vision as Akaashi took off in a sprint immediately after the noise had settled, shortly followed by Bokuto - who looked like he was trying to frantically get his deputy's attention while shouldering partygoers aside.

They were headed for a staircase.

Konoha and Sarukui met them halfway, already a few steps up while Komi darted forward from somewhere further into the room to flank Bokuto, brows furrowed.

Smart.

Disguising cadets in with the crowd instead of having them front and center for everyone to see. Sakusa had always admired that tactic.

Finally snapping back to reality, his attention flew behind his shoulder to where Kuroo was straining to shout to his cadets over the sound of the fleeing crowd, Kenma looking around in a panic beside him and keeping one hand against Kuroo's back so they wouldn't be separated.

It seemed as if all the local organizations were here.

Fukurodani, Nekoma, Karasuno, and Seijoh somewhere further in. And as Sakusa looked around he could even see Shirabu and Goshiki breaking the line of the crowd together as they bolted in the direction their leader and deputy had walked off in earlier.

He muttered a curse under his breath before flinching as another foreboding pop of gunshot filled the room, ignoring the sound of Kuroo's yelling behind him as he took a single deep breath in through his nose.

And then he ran towards the hall.

"Akaashi-san! Are you alright?"

Was the first thing the deputy heard upon reaching the top of the stairs, and recognized Hinata immediately as the boy hurried over to him.

"Yes, I'm fine." Akaashi panted as he struggled to catch his breath, feeling Bokuto's presence behind him as his leader hurried towards where Daichi was watching the crowd flee in a panic.
