Chapter Twenty-Eight: Some More

Dorcas was right; the next day, almost everyone found out about James and Lily. Mostly because of Sirius, but almost everyone had found out. No one really cared or minded them except Snape's friends and all were at peace.

James woke up before Lily had, Lily, having to stay up another hour or so. Once both had woke up, they got ready for the day and headed to breakfast. It was a fine Sunday, so everyone was allowed to go to Hogsmeade.

"Lily, I need that!" exclaimed James as he tried to chase Lily in the common room. It was after breakfast when they had finished early. The common room was empty except for them, Sirius, Remus, Peter, and Marlene. Lily had just stolen another one of James's sweaters, holding it close to her chest. "I gave you two already."

"How much do you wanna bet Lily likes the smell of the sweaters?" said Sirius loudly to Marlene.

Lily turned her head. "How much do you wanna bet Sirius'll never get a boyfriend?"

All six of them knew Sirius was gay by then.

Lily saw Remus raise an eyebrow and she was immediately suspicious.

"Damn Lily, who said I didn't have one?" joked Sirius. Or was it a joke? Lily's eyes widened as she noticed Remus giving Sirius a 'shut up' look.

"Well, well. If you did, I bet I'd know who it is." Lily saw Remus slightly panic. She knew by then, raising an eyebrow at Remus.

There was tension in the air during a small moment of silence. Marlene stood up noticing the same thing Lily had. "Wait — wait, are you two..." she pointed to Sirius then Remus. Sirius was completely relaxed, Remus, on the other hand, was tense and staring at the floor. "No way."

"Well shit. I'm lonely," groaned Peter.

"What a shame, Wormtail," said James from behind her. "It would be such a shame if I..." Lily felt a tug on the sweater she was holding and lost grip of it. James had just stolen it back.

"James." complained Lily.

"If Sirius was right and you only like the smell of the sweaters, I might as well just hug you forever, I have no problem with that." James hugged her from behind and Lily didn't stop him. She chuckled. "So Moony?"

Remus's eyes were still wide and panicking. "W, What?!"

"You and Sirius?"

He didn't want to say anything, just continuously stared at the floor. Looking to Sirius, he gave them a thumbs-up and nodded casually. Lily smiled as James rested his chin on her head.

"Hey, Moons, don't be shy. We still love you, there's no point in hiding it," said James. "I already knew, I overheard a conversation between you and Lily."

Lily turned her head, tensing up. "WHAT CONVERSATION?"

James laughed. "The little pep talk you had when we were under the stairs. After the Quidditch game."

"You heard that?!"

"Of course, I did. I still love you, there's no point in hiding it," he repeated. "Hogsmeade?"

"O, Okay," Lily agreed awkwardly.

The four of them went altogether, James, Lily, Sirius, and Remus to Hogsmeade that morning. Remus, no longer shy and afraid knowing his friends accept him for who he is. He wasn't afraid to show affection towards Sirius either.

Peter didn't seem to want to come either, knowing he would be the fifth-wheel. He wanted to spend some time by himself.

All of them were laughing and having fun as they walked down the alley of Hogsmeade.

"Hey Evans, nice sweater," said James, snickering.

Lily smiled. "Thanks, I wonder who it's from, I bet I got it from someone cute."

He smiled, blushing. "Did Lily Evans just call me 'cute'?"

"I said what I said, I'm not taking it back."

James laughed. "So," he said randomly, holding Lily's hand. "Who's top and bottom?" he asked Remus and Sirius.

Lily smacked him in the back of the head. "James, my god, you don't just ask that! Maybe I should take it back!"

"They're our best friends, would it matter?" said James, defending himself and rubbing the back of his head.

She rolled her eyes. "Yes, you cute idiot!"

"It doesn't matter, Lils, it's okay." said Sirius. "I...don't know. I wouldn't put labels like that."

Remus nodded.

Lily turned to James again. "How do you even know what that means?!"

He furrowed his eyebrows. "I'm turning seventeen soon, of course I know! I'm not a little boy!"

"Yet you act like one!" she smacked a hand to her head.

"Did you forget all the sex jokes Sirius and I used to make in fifth year?" said James, sniggering a little.

She smacked a hand to her head again. "I wish I did forget!"

"It was funny!" protested James.

"It was not!"

"Yes it was!"

"Was not!"

"IT WAS!"

"WAS NOT!"

"Ah, young love," exasperated Sirius, laughing. "They sound like an old married couple."

"They will be an old married couple," whispered Remus, loud enough for all of them to hear. (but we all know they won't :0)

Lily grew frustrated with him for the rest of the day, although James was able to change her mind with a lot of begging and affection. They all enjoyed the day, both Lily and Remus disappointed of the stupidity of Sirius and James. Lily still loved James, of course, nothing was going to change about that.

Of course, the rest of their time at Hogwarts flew by like birds. James, still tutoring little first years (Lily loving it because of how he treated little kids) and playing Quidditch. Lily, passing every test (James was always proud of her) and stealing James's sweaters every now and then. Severus, on the other hand, hadn't gotten over Lily, but continously acted like it for the rest of the year.

Even with a war going on, all was well.
